Feedback for your online store from the community
Hello everyone,
Here is my store: https://decorativegold.com/
Any feedback big or small will be greatly appretiated.
The focus of the store is gold home decor/related products.
Until recently it was built on Prestashop but over the last 3 weeks I have moved over to Shopify.
Using the default Dawn theme which i have modified with a custom header/footer and made some tweaks to the Shopify content design. I have put a lot of time into behind the scenes work such as renaming all product images for better SEO. Removing logos from the Aliexpress product images.
Many thanks,
Jack
Thanks for your feedback. The site already has reviews implemented and fairly long descriptions
So this is my opinion from a storeowner who has been in ecommerce for about 2 months and has made 0 sales haha
I think your website looks really good, very fast, a little bit old looking and less modern but the product images look very high quality. I think you did a really good job on product images. I think some things that you can work on is including at least 5 product images for each product and the prices. I feel like the prices fluctuate a lot and things are very strangely priced making it feel a lot less organized. There's also some work that might need to be done with the specifications of some of the products but besides that, I think it looks really good. I would say the biggest thing to fix is the prices (maybe it's because i'm in the US) and then add products images and look through the specifications a bit, and then it's time to market
Thanks mate, I wish you well on your journey.
Ah old looking 🙂 I need to work on that as it wasn't the goal. Perhaps it's a sign of my age as this is my design style. I tried to keep the site simple/clean/product focused. If you have any ideas to modernise the site that would be amazing.
I'm glad you mentioned the pricing as it's been on my list to make them more consistent. The random pricing has very dropshipping vibes. I think I will change all pricing to .99 to make it consistent.
Good afternoon ababos,
So far, I've been working with a marketing agency and they have been handling my marketing for now. I have had a lot of visitors to the site but no sales. I've created a few social media accounts to advertise the site a bit more but I definitely need to keep uploading more and try to improve the website. I've received a lot of input from many different people so now I just need to put in the effort but I'm open to discussion! There's a lot more that I can say but I will stop short here since this is about Zomex's store and this is for his feedback.
I would be happy to check your site out if you are happy to share it 🙂
Sure! This is the link to the website Tech Chalice I still need to improve it in a couple of ways so I'm going to try to do that today
Wanted to give you my personal feedback:
Overall I like the site and it has great content. Products look really nice. I know they are for the saleable.
- Your logo looks out of place, the blue doesn't match the color scheme and the design of the logo means you can't make it wider (without increasing the size of your header)
- Your menu looks too big in terms of font-size and the icons on the right. See attached for a quick mess around with CSS. i would look to reduce the height also.
- Your notice at the top doesn't add any value. I would recommend replacing this with a upsell such as a discount or a shipping incentive
- I think your page content looks really nice, like the homepage is very full with good info and images.
- On your products page your Add To Cart button doesn't stand out. I recommend making this much more bold with a solid background vs the border. This should be the biggest stand out on the page.
- The reviews are very lacking in space within the right column. May be best to move these below into a full 100% column.
- The image on your welcome page is very tall. I reducing the height.
Thank you so much!!!! I'll make these changes as soon as possible, I was wondering about the header text myself too
So update: The marketing agency that I have been working with created that logo for me, but I had a totally different one before I went with their design so now I'm using the one that I created now.
Funny enough, I did have a deal on the header before, which was free shipping on orders $50 or more but I don't see it there now, but thanks for reminding me. I used to have rotating announcements but not anymore it seems.
I'm starting to realize it seems to be a lot harder than I thought to change the add to cart button to a different color and I will keep looking up solutions for this.
The Review app I'm using which is Vitals doesn't seem to have a option to use the full column which sucks but I will keep looking into it.
But overall, I think I did my best to implement all the changes!! Thanks again
Great job on the changes, looking very nice.
For your add to cart button you can do this by adding custom CSS:
.btn--tertiary.add-to-cart {
background: #000;
color:#fff;
}
See below:
Wow thank you so much!! I'll put that in right now. Haha I've been trying, making changes where I can and learning. It's amazing how much work it takes to create an online store.
Update: I just put it in the custom css and it worked!! This is awesome haha
Update: As of right now, I've added all your suggestions! Thanks so much for the help, I did the best I could. Cheers!!!
My pleasure, all the best with your store! 🙂
You had a lot of visitors, but no sales. This means that the conversion rate is low, you need to some optimization to boost the conversion rate.
Thank you, yeah I did! I plan on making more changes today to raise the conversion rate
Hello @zomex
I'm Garcia, a CRO (Conversion Rate Optimization) expert from PageFly, a Shopify Advanced Page Builder App.I find your website's design to be clear and straightforward, making it incredibly easy for me to locate the information I need. However, I have some suggestions and hope that they can help increase your conversion rate
1. Home page
2. Highlight brand features
Brand features help distinguish your brand from competitors. By highlighting unique aspects such as what materials of your decorations, your service, …, you will set your brand apart in the market.
And the dynamic layout will assist you highlight those information
3. Mobile respinsive
While offering comprehensive product descriptions is advantageous, inundating customers with excessive information can result in a less favorable shopping experience. I suggest utilizing drop-down accordion elements to save space and enable users to access supplementary details as required, particularly for mobile users.
4. Have Direct Links to “Return Policy” and “Shipping Info” in the Footer
Knowing that clear return and shipping policies are readily available can instill confidence in customers when making a purchase. They feel reassured that they can easily understand the terms and conditions associated with their order.
Hope it helps!
Cheers,
Garcia

Regarding 4 I already have these links in the footer. For 1 I already have something similar:
Homepage:
Hi @zomex
I apologize for overlooking the Policies part earlier. Now I found it, thank you. For the first suggestion, I think buyers might overlook products in the collections not featured on the homepage if they don't navigate through the header menu. This could lead to missed sales opportunities for products that could have been of interest.
So to improve this, you can consider naming the collections list as Featured collections.
Thank you for the clarification and have a great day!
Garcia

Hi Jack,
This is Amee from Gojiberry - Shopify Survey & Feedback App.
I like the store concept and can see the amount of effort you have put into your store. Just a bit nitpicking -- I think your home page can still look a little more professional design-wise, and should include trust signals for your intended buyers. Here are some specifics:
Perhaps getting rid of the black border and making some of the images on the home page bigger can give it a more finished look? Also the CTA button doesn't need to be gold. Here's an example of a nicely designed home decor store: https://www.mcgeeandco.com/
This part looks like the footer? If it's not I would find a different design instead of buttons. I would make the footer longer and include some of these elements. Check this site for reference: https://www.highfashionhome.com/
It would be good to include trust signals such as secure checkout, positive reviews, good return policies etc to give your shopper peace of mind.
Include trust pilot ratings or customer reviews on your home page so your future buyers feel like your site is legit and trustworthy.
There are many other aspects / good practices I can mention. There's a link in my signature that points to the 12 best practices for Shopify growth, please take a look if you have time.
Hope this helps!

The Ultimate 12 Best Practices to Growing Your Shopify Store
Hello Amee,
Thank you for your feedback.
I really like the reference sites you have highlighted. I am going to study them for more ideas.
Great idea, I will be experimenting with a new color for the CTA buttons. I do think a new colour will pop more than the gold.
The part you highlighted in the footer. The links switch to buttons on smaller devices as easier to click. On desktop it's normal links. See below:
I did add something similar to the product pages:
Will keep looking to evolve the site. I appreciate your feedback.
