How can we optimize our new retail website for mobile users?

ApexMikey

Just launched our first store, ready for a hard-open in October.

First time retail website (we are a manufacturer).

IF YOU EMAIL SPAM ME, YOU WILL BE DELETED AND IGNORED, SO SAVE YOUR BREATH.
We do not need help with sales.....at all.

We seem to have a very clean checkout process, with very linear and sensible breadcrumbs and language.

However we are still hoping to improve.

Any ideas or suggestions would be wonderful!

The site looks super nice on desktop and decent on mobile, not sure how to improve mobile TBH and yet mobile is where 99% of traffic is coming from.

Thanks, Mikey.

Hi @ApexMikey ,

This is MooseDesk - All-in-one solution for ecommerce customer service app. We are also passionate about improving UX and customer success.

First of all, congratulation on your store. It looks good, but I do have some comments to make the good gets even better. Here are some of my recommendations.

1. Home Page

MooseDesk_0-1695696008771.png

- The Hero Section is the first thing potential customers will see so showing a bespoke image like this is good but not enough. You might want to add a heading telling visitors what you are selling with an outstanding CTA button leading to a sales page (maybe a product listing page for example)

MooseDesk_1-1695696698248.png

- This part is considered as the Product Category. As an visitor I wish to explore more on each category, however, I cannot click on these three images to get a better look at products in each category. You might want to make them clickable and leading visitors to each category.

- The "Installment Paymen" Yellow Button can be clicked however it lacks the 'verb' in a CTA. The content in button guide and lead the visitors to actually click on it. Therefore, you might want to change it to "Explore Installment Plan"

MooseDesk_2-1695697198967.png

- I think the 'sale badge' can be more outstanding. You can consider changing them to be red and place them at the top so they can catch the attention better

- You might want to add secondary hover image for the product so customers can have a better look at the product

- When you have reviews remember to put them right under the price to show customers that others love your product. It would make customers more likely to engage and make a buying decision

MooseDesk_3-1695697491776.png

- This Featured Product has quite lengthy name. I think this should be its product description. You might want to come up with a more short and streamlined like Lounger Mover Stand, something like that

2. Support

MooseDesk_4-1695698227616.png

(Sorry in advance if my test bugs your support team.)

So a very important in creating great user/customer experience is designing a spot where customers can easily feedback their experience. There are some recommendations I have for you:

- You should include your branded avatar in the customer support chat so the customers don't have to feel like they are talking to a bot/machine

- According to my testing, you haven't have a predefined template/auto reply yet when customers hit the support chat. You should include this even when you don't present at the moment. Some simple message like "We've got your message, since we support from 4-6PM, let's we handle the ticket offline and reply you real soon" <<< The point is letting your customers know your operation hour and making sure they got the ticket.

Talking into void is not a great feeling so you might want to change this. MooseDesk is a FREE customer service app/ticketing system that could help you do all the things I have suggested above. So if you want to give MooseDesk a try, feel free to do it and hit our 24/7 support so we can help you enhance UX experience.

3. Product Page

MooseDesk_5-1695699329888.png

- Your product page is quite easy to follow but to make look easier to catch all the information and images I think you can consider making the image section to have 1 featured image and 3-5 additional images. Placing them all over like this might be a little bit confusing to look at.

- With the Product Description, I think you might want to shorten your main product description and add a new section under the main product section with advertising-like content like this. The idea of this comment is keeping the product detail in the first section of the page product-focused then adding a new section under it and bringing all the value, advertising-content, cross sell, upsell into it.

It will make the Product Page super easy to follow, look at, therefore enhance customer experience.

THANK YOU for your generous time and help.

I have pasted your comments (below) and added my response IN BLOCK LETTERS.
Thank you so much,

First of all, congratulation on your store. It looks good, but I do have some comments to make the good gets even better. Here are some of my recommendations. THANKS!!

1. Home Page

- The Hero Section is the first thing potential customers will see so showing a bespoke image like this is good but not enough. You might want to add a heading telling visitors what you are selling with an outstanding CTA button leading to a sales page (maybe a product listing page for example) ACTUALLY WE ARE NOT SENDING PEOPLE TO THE HOME PAGE, JUST TO SPECIFIC CATEGORIES. BUT IF THEY HOVER TO THE HOME PAGE THEY ALREADY KNOW WHAT WE ARE SELLING DUE TO THE FIRST LANDING PAGE AND AD VIDEOS  🙂

- This part is considered as the Product Category. As an visitor I wish to explore more on each category, however, I cannot click on these three images to get a better look at products in each category. You might want to make them clickable and leading visitors to each category.  YES THIS IS AN EXPLAINER, AND IF I DELETE IT THE PAGE LOOKS BARE. I HAVE AN FAQ PAGE AND IT SHOULD LINK THERE, AS THE TOP OF THE PAGE WAS INTENDED FOR NEW BROWSING CUSTOMERS TO SEE HOW VERSATILE THE PRODUCTS ARE, AND OF COURSE THAT WE OFFER INSTALLMENTS. WE ARE DEFIINTELY INTERESTED IN IMPROVING THIS PART OF THE SITE.

- The "Installment Paymen" Yellow Button can be clicked however it lacks the 'verb' in a CTA. The content in button guide and lead the visitors to actually click on it. Therefore, you might want to change it to "Explore Installment Plan" YES CHANGED. TY.

- I think the 'sale badge' can be more outstanding. You can consider changing them to be red and place them at the top so they can catch the attention better

- You might want to add secondary hover image for the product so customers can have a better look at the product

- When you have reviews remember to put them right under the price to show customers that others love your product. It would make customers more likely to engage and make a buying decision YES I AGREE, WILL NEED TO GET SUPPORT ON THAT FIX. THANK YOU.

- This Featured Product has quite lengthy name. I think this should be its product description. You might want to come up with a more short and streamlined like Lounger Mover Stand, something like that  THIS IS DELIBERATE, THE MASTER PRODUCT IS CLEAN AS YOU SUGGEST, THIS WAS THE ONLY WAY WE COULD HIGHLIGHT THE PORTABLE STAND.

2. Support

Hello @ApexMikey

I am Garcia, a Conversion Rate Optimization Director with a decade of valuable experience at PageFly. I genuinely wish I had the opportunity to share my insights with you sooner.

I must say, your product is remarkable, and it has piqued my interest to the point where I'm eager to become your customer. However, to further enhance your sales performance, I humbly suggest that you consider some of the recommendations I have to offer.

  • The product images are awesome! But too cluttered to fit them all on a HERO BANNER page

Ensure that your customers grasp the essence of what you offer. Some visitors may initially perceive your website as primarily catering to children, featuring cartoons, and various unrelated content. To overcome this perception, leverage product GIF images or product cut-out images with visuals illustrating their practical use, that means combine human-model. This approach will help convey the full scope and value of your offerings to your audience.

  • Clear and compelling pricing incentives can prompt quicker decision-making and ultimately drive more sales.
  • Certainly, with a product that's considered non-essential, customers tend to deliberate longer before making a decision. However, it's crucial to expedite their decision-making process to avoid missing out on potential sales opportunities. To achieve this, dedicate significant effort to spotlighting and emphasizing the attractive pricing deals you have available.
  • Use a high-contrast colour for the Announcement bar, perhaps using green or yellow like your brand's Logo. It also helps create the brand identity for the store
  • Add a sole section for concentration on your PROMOTION CAMPAIGN. Customers are more likely to buy something if they feel like it is a limited-time offer. A sale section creates a sense of urgency by letting customers know that the products on sale are only available for a limited time. This can encourage customers to buy now rather than wait, in case the product sells out or the sale ends.

Instead of this design:

PageFlyGarcia_0-1695724581165.png

Please check the below one:

PageFlyGarcia_1-1695724608505.png

  • Set up CALL-TO-ACTION Button through the page
  • Use a variety of CTA buttons. Tailor your CTA buttons to the specific content and goal of each page. For example, if you're writing a blog post about a new product, you might have a CTA button that says "Learn More" or "Try It For Free."
  • Use clear and concise text. they should tell visitors exactly what will happen when they click on them.
  • Make your CTA buttons stand out. Use contrasting colors and bold fonts to make your CTA buttons stand out from the rest of the content on your page.
  • Confusion in design because we have too many colors, too many details but little space

You can check my example design here:

PageFlyGarcia_2-1695724690814.jpeg

  • Organize your information logically
  • Please kindly make each section clear within focusing on the sole purpose. When each section of a document is clear and focused, readers are more likely to be able to find the information they need quickly and efficiently. This is because they can easily scan the document and identify the section that contains the information they are looking for
  • Testimonial section will be ideal add ups
  • Take advantage of the crowd effect from the world's promotional festivals

The upcoming festivals, Black Friday, and other days with high shopping volume are a great opportunity for dinosaur lounger store owners to maximize their revenue. During this time, customers are more likely to spend money on impulse purchases, even on items that have more spiritual than practical value.

  • Enhance your website with a festive theme. Add seasonal visuals, banners, and color schemes to create a warm and inviting atmosphere for your visitors. This will help to put them in a shopping mood and make them more likely to browse your products.
  • Use countdown timers to highlight limited-time offers. This will create a sense of urgency and encourage customers to make a purchase before the offer expires. You can use countdown timers for flash sales, discounts, or even free shipping promotions.

Wishing you success on your way!
Garcia
