How to Separate Product Variants into Individual Products Without Losing Sales and Inventory Data

I have a product in my Shopify store that currently has two variants. I’d like to separate each variant into its standalone product page, but I want to make sure I don’t lose any of the existing sales/inventory history.

Is there a way to do this properly while preserving past data and analytics?
