I am fairly new to Shopify and don't have a lot of experience selling in this outlet. I launched my site about a year ago and ran it for 6 months without a single sale. After taking a 6 month break, I have came back and tried it all over again, completely revamping everything and trying to get this one to take off. I've been on for nearly a month now without a single sale.

Currently, I sell on Etsy and really want to get away from them because I want something that is all my own. I am an online e-commerce boutique. I have a verified Google business listing, Etsy page, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. I get likes and follows, and according to Shopify I even get traffic, but not a single sale. I have all these outlets linked in my Shopify store admin, but I don't get anything from it.

As I grow frustrated and have no one to turn to, I ask the Shopify community, what did you guys to do grow your business on this platform and can you make any suggestions on how I may can improve my shop to get more attention or sales. I market my store through Facebook and Instagram ads as well as TikTok. I do my marketing separate from and even from within Shopify. I am just getting into the SEO optimization, so I'm learning more about this and I'm trying to make improvements with this avenue. Any advice is appreciated!!!

Could you share your store url?

Your said you have traffic, but can you tell how big the traffic is?

According to Shopify, I've had a decent amount of traffic coming through, but I haven't had any sales. Shopify reports that I've had 1,540 online store sessions, and breaks it down: 604 from Tiktok, 299 from Facebook, 507 Direct, and 130 others. I'm just not sure why I am not seeing any sales from this amount of traffic. I continue to run ads on all my social media platforms and I am continuously seeking advice on how to improve my store.

Any advice on how I can improve this is appreciated.

Hi SVDesigns,

This is Amee from Gojiberry - Shopify Survey & Feedback App

First of all, congratulations on making the transition from Etsy to Shopify. It must be quite the journey.

Since you most likely have some customers on Etsy and some reviews, I would do the following 2 things immediately.

1. Export your Etsy reviews to Shopify. As long as they are displayed on your home page, it works like testimonials. Also helps to mention on Shopify that you are a Etsy seller and your product has been loved by many on Etsy.

2. Create a product insert with a survey and coupon that promotes your Shopify store. Whenever you sell something on Etsy, your customers will get a product insert that tells them about your Shopify store, and a discount to return a purchase. You can also ask their opinions of your new store for feedback!

In addition to the suggestions above, here are some more tips to help increase your conversion rate:

Connect Social Media. If you already have a growing Instagram account, it would help to connect the feed to your main site, thus giving it more social proof. Research shows that 76% of customers buy products seen on social media posts.

Adding a blog. Adding blog posts about fashion tips, and targeting the right audience can help bring traffic to your site and help with your site's overall SEO.

Influencer Collab. Since you have visually appealing products, connect with micro-influencers, send them some of your pieces, and ask them to create content for your social media and Shopify store.

Testimonials. Try to showcase at least 5 testimonials on your site. Whether it's from friends and family, or your offline store customers. Having some social proof helps boost consumer confidence in your site.

Product reviews. Each of your products doesn't seem to have any testimonials so far, it would be good to have a review section (and get a few of your customers to write a few reviews for your best sellers) This helps promote more consumer trust and confidence.

Showcasing detail pictures. When purchasing garments, the consumers are not just looking for how the garment looks on the model, but it would be nice to give some information about the touch and feel. A very closeup of the garment showing texture might help your customer imagine what it would be like to touch the cloth.

Improve SEO. Make sure your keywords are well-placed and researched using keyword tools. Making sure that your site speed is good, and that your mobile experience is friendly. Also having influencers or other partners backlink to your site can help boost your rating as well.

If the traffic visiting your site is not converting it usually means those visitors are not interested in the products or the offer is not appealing to them. It's impossible to say why without details about the traffic.

Social media traffic generally doesn't convert at a high rate, I would run Google Ads / Google Shopping.

I would setup some Google Ads, you'll see quickly if people want to buy your products, since you'll be targeting people that are actively shopping. If you're doing it yourself, search youtube for tutorials. If you want to work with a professional, search for a Google Shopping experts and ask for case studies (in any marketing hire I look for case studies) - I've seen this guy be helpful in the forums: https://feedarmy.com/google-shopping-expert-consultant.

Also might consider focusing your product selection more, the designs look professional on the t-shirts, but also there's some randomness - featured products, which I would assume are most popular that you're trying to present to the visitor, there's a shirt with a cow on it, next to a sling bag, next to a metallic tote back, further down there is a baby's outfit.

It's hard to know who your target audience is because of the randomness of the products, if you don't know who your target audience is it makes marketing much harder.

Sticky header is recommended, as it makes it easy for the user to directly jump to the menu at any point of time while they are navigating through the Site. Other significant observations for store optimization are as follows:

  1. The default search landing page is a bit off, I mean it's empty. You can show products on that page as well by simply updating the default search on the website with different search solutions.
  2. Put "Secured and trusted checkout with" in your footer.
  3. You can also install one of the most popular apps Growwave which is an all-in-one marketing platform that helps store owners increase conversions with ease.
  4. Make sure your social media pages open at the new tab instead of the same tab. This will ensure your customers stay on your website while looking at your social presence.
  5. Try reducing the size of your logo, it takes up a lot of space and thus makes the home page less user-friendly.
  6. You should add terms and conditions and FAQs if any, again these also help in building search engine content.
  7. You can add Sitemap on the site footer, again these also help in building search engine content.
  8. Finally, I would also recommend you to try Sparq product filters and search to replace the default search on your store, this app allows advanced custom tag product filters for collection pages, synonyms, spelling correction, and other such features. Visitors with the search are high-intent users and their conversion rate is higher than normal users. Check out the features live here.

I hope you find these suggestions helpful in enhancing your store's performance and providing an improved experience for your customers.
