I got my EIN yesterday, so possibly it needs a second to show up in the systems, but I have the documents, and everything I need for it to be verified, but shopify just limited the amount of submissions I have done today and can no longer submit the EIN because It won't verify it.

Hi @Sameusername

It sounds like you're dealing with a common issue where Shopify’s system can’t instantly verify a newly issued EIN. This happens because the IRS systems may take a few days to update, and Shopify relies on external data to confirm your EIN.

Here’s what you can do to handle this situation:

1. Give it Time

  • Since you just got your EIN yesterday, it may not yet appear in the IRS database Shopify uses for verification. Typically, it can take up to 15 business days for a new EIN to be fully recognized across systems.

2. Check Your Documents

  • Make sure you’ve entered the EIN exactly as it appears on the IRS confirmation letter (no extra spaces or typos).
  • Double-check your business name and address match exactly with what you registered with the IRS. Even small differences can cause verification issues.

3. Contact Shopify Support

  • Shopify limits the number of submission attempts per day to prevent spam or errors. If you’re locked out for today, reach out to Shopify Support to explain the situation.
  • Provide them with:
    • Your EIN confirmation letter (as a PDF or clear image).
    • A brief explanation that your EIN is new and may not yet be in the IRS system.

4. Alternative Verification

  • If Shopify continues to block your EIN verification, ask their support team if you can submit the documents manually. Shopify might allow this, depending on your account setup and circumstances.

5. Reach Out to the IRS

  • If you suspect there’s an issue with your EIN registration or processing, you can contact the IRS Business and Specialty Tax Line at 800-829-4933 (Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–7 p.m. local time).

It’s frustrating to run into these delays, but they’re pretty common when dealing with new tax IDs. If you wait a few days and ensure all your details are correct, it should clear up soon.

If you need any other assistance, feel free to reply and I will try my best to respond.
Best regards,
Daisy
