Impulse Theme - How to Make only top section of navigation sticky?

Good afternoon,

The Impulse theme has a built-in sticky header option, but it makes the entire navigation sticky. We would like to have just the search bar, logo, and account + cart icons when scrolling.  So basically just git rid of the nav images when scrolling. 

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
