Feedback for your online store from the community
I made a purchase on this store yesterday. It was selling discounted brand new alpine ski material. It looked legit, but as I didn't receive an order confirmation number / email, I really think it's a scam. Also, they didn't charge any sales tax and their contact information was from a different store. They probably feed their catalog using another store. Their mail addess is a residential home ...
I had to cancel my credit card. Anyone else used that store?
Hi @samsonfr
Yeah looks like a scam. Using .Myshopify.Com should be the first red flag. I mean some stores are legit and use it, but usually, you want to have a real full domain. The next email on the same domain does not mean much and the address of the residential home in Canada but in Terms they mention Kansas, USA. And no phone or any business registration number.
And those prices are too good to be true. An old rule I guess I mean that the first product on the home page, a power amplifier on Amazon with a 40% discount is $850, and on a scam website is $472.
There are a lot of scam websites, that make massive campaigns on TikTok or Instagram, that offer good prices and sometimes even ship some random items instead. So it takes longer and then apologies, return process but in few days the whole store is just gone with good profit.
Thanks.
I also reported the store to Shopify using their "Report an issue with a merchant" -> "Malicious and deceptive practices".
In your experience, will they shut it down?
I reported it to Shopify too, the same way you did. Hope that is enough, they should have more ways to check if orders are not fulfilled.
Thanks for your help.
I never received an order confirmation email. I was redirected to a page that I saved into a PDF (I could provide it to you but not publicly in this forum). In the footer I see this hyperlink: https://edulau.myshopify.com/checkouts/cn/Z2NwLXVzLWNlbnRyYWwxOjAxSE5Vk1OWjKUzJYWFRCVEE3VzAxRVMw/tha...
So I cannot fill the form because it requires a valid order confirmation URL.
I get a different error:
At least, I see that the store is unavailable now. Shopify must have shut it down.
