Legal name and store name

Hi! Can my company's legal name be completely different from the store name that I enter in Shopify? If yes, then legally am I required to register my store name as a trademark or something under my legal business name for it to be recognized?

I would recommend connecting with a local business/tax expert in your area to get precise requirements on how to name your businesses.

With that said, in my experience, they do not need to match up but different countries or regions may have different requirements.

Thanks Dirk! Just to be clear, as long as I have a legal business name registered and also stated in my Shopify, my store should be considered a part of that legal company not under my personal name?
