Lots of traffic but no “Add to Cart” or “Checkout”

I’ve been running my one product Shopify store for 3-4 weeks now. I have been running paid ads on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok to drive traffic to the store. I have over 2,000 visits in the 3 weeks but 0 sales. The add to cart and checkout data is also extremely low (1-2% or less).


For the records, I’m based in Spain, but targeting the English speaking community, trying to sell in countries like the UK and the USA.


I’m spending around 50-80 USD in ads daily, driving 200-300 visits to the store everyday but with pretty much 0 adds to cart and obviously 0 conversions. 


I’m not sure what I am doing wrong as the store seems fine, prices are on the “low-end” and the product seems to be demanded as per tiktok and google trends.

Starting working on an online store is quite hard, you have done a great job to have 2000 visitors. Based on my extensive knowledge in CRO, I recommend the following suggestions to improve your conversion rates:


1. Replace background gif on the hero banner

When I visited your homepage, I noticed the hero banner features a GIF that didn't catch my attention; the product didn't stand out, leading to confusion. It might be more effective to use an image showcasing the product alongside a model instead


2. About the product details section

The layout of this section appears disorganized, failing to direct customer focus towards the product. Additionally, the 'add to cart' button lacks appeal and does not effectively catch the customer's attention. 

In this section, it's crucial to emphasize the key specifications of the product and highlight the sale badges prominently, as customers are often attracted to sales.

3. Make the product review section more professional

The product review section is currently positioned beneath the product details. Consider adding a brief heading to this section, such as "What Our Customers Say," to make it more noticeable.


4/  Add Shoppable Instagram feed

Enhance your store's visual attractiveness and increase sales opportunities by incorporating shoppable Instagram feeds into your website using the Instagram/Facebook feed App to link your social media.

 Apps such as VIBE and Instafeed allow for showcasing engaging Instagram content on your site, including posts and reels, with features to tag products in visuals, enabling direct shopping from the Instagram feed.


5/ Add trust badges section 

This is especially crucial for online shopping, where buyers frequently worry about whether the products are good quality and if their payment information is safe. Please note that A crucial factor for an online store's success is ensuring that customers can easily find all the information they need.

1. Consider modifying the color scheme of the star review to feature a more prominent yellow shade rather than black. This adjustment is advisable because the color yellow is commonly associated with positivity, attention, and satisfaction, qualities that are inherently linked to high ratings and positive reviews.


2. Given that the product is currently on sale, you can add a countdown timer to enhance the sense of urgency that could motivate customers to make a purchase more promptly.

Put "Secured and trusted checkout with" in your footer. Other significant observations for store optimization are as follows:


  1. Sticky header is recommended, as it makes it easy for the user to directly jump to the menu at any point of time while they are navigating through the Site.
  2. Make sure your social media pages open at the new tab instead of the same tab. This will ensure your customers stay on your website while looking at your social presence.
  3. Incentivise customers with irresistible offers that boost your checkout rate by 25%+.
  4. You can add Sitemap on the site footer, again these also help in building search engine content.
