Lots of traffic but no conversions

Hello everyone!

I have launched an online store for wood housewares, at

We have used Facebook Ads to generate traffic to the store, targeting the USA, EU, Australia, etc.

We spent €60, had about 300 visitors, but not a single purchase.

Do you think this a problem about our Facebook targeting, the layout of our store, something else...?

We appreciate your feedback!

Hi @woodiorsshop

Thank you for sharing!

Getting your first couple of sales will always pose a challenge, but with the right effort in the right direction. You will start converting your traffic to sales in no time - I will suggest focusing your energy on your marketing and pricing (make it competitive). They are a ton of useful resources on the Shopify blog and academy that can help you hone in on marketing. You can also check this article on Making your first sales in 30 days

I browsed through your store and I think the user experience is good. The store is well optimized for conversion, at least it meets most of the requirements of high converting stores. Well done on that.

Here is some feedback to improve the product page

1. Add Shipping and Return Information and Show Estimated Delivery Date - Many customers don’t want to wait until checkout to know when they’ll receive their order, and showing the Estimated Delivery Date helps users to estimate when they can expect to receive their order. Add the delivery-date estimate, or delivery-date range, within the product page, it should be close to your "buy" button

When viewing an estimated delivery day like “Standard Shipping — 4 business days. Get it by Sept 06”, Your customers will have more confidence to make the purchase. Create this date for all the countries you're targeting in your ads.

2. Add Shipping policy on the footer - Customers are used to going to the footer to find a store shipping policy, so it is easy for them to assume you don't have a shipping policy when it is not on the footer.

3. Add 4 - 5 Product Images on the product images.

4. Engage with your customers and visitors - I will suggest adding a Live chat, you want to reach out to your visitors and show that you're ready to answer any question they might have. If you added a Live chat that launched after 60 seconds of someone landing on your store that asks, “How can I help you today?”. The idea here is to engage and show your visitors that you're available to answer their questions.

That's all from me - I think your store is really well designed and easy to use.

Best of luck and cheers!

Hello @woodiorsshop

Hope you are doing well.

I understand how it can be frustrating to be doing everything right but still not getting your traffic converted to sales. You may find comfort in knowing that you're not the only one on that boat. Millions of Shopify store owners are facing the same problem. This is not because you are necessarily doing something wrong, but rather because Sales is an organic process, involving people getting to know you, visiting your brand, looking at your products, comparing them with others, and finally making the decision to purchase from you. So this takes some time, during which you have to hold on tight. But, you can't be just passively waiting for sales to grow, so I would recommend you look at these tips and see which ones you can use: You have great faith in your online shop, but why aren’t visitors converting?

Another Thing you could consider: Not all traffic is good traffic.

Traffic will only have any chance of converting to sales if they are being generated by the right consumer. If your product is for females under the age of 30, but your ads are being viewed by males over 50, that is a lot of traffic, but it will never convert to sales. So, before you spend on targeting, a good idea is to have a simple Google Trends search, that will tell you who is looking for the products you search, what is their age, gender and location. Then you can put forward some really targeted ads that are bound to generate clicks.

Here are some areas where you could consider working on

  • A good idea is to have your newsletter as a popup so that it shows up when the customer enters the home page. This will make it more visible and attract more people to your newsletter from where you can target more interested people.
  • Add a sticky header. The headings are important to navigate the site. If the headers keep disappearing, it makes it hard to find what the customer is looking for. That is why if you make your headers sticky, the user can see them even if they have scrolled down, which makes the site more user friendly.

You can also consider making your headings a bit bigger or bolder, so that they catch the eye more easily.

  • It is a good idea to place a banner on the homepage that tells your customers exactly what they are looking for. You may add a separate banner for each of your product types

Your banner looks very good and matches your theme and product. Consider, however, adding a Shop Now button to your banner, which will take you directly to the relevant product page.

It is a good idea to have multiple slides on your banner (each should stay for around 5seconds) for each product type and have the CTA buttons for each slide redirect the customer to a different product page.

  • Because this is an online store and people cannot touch and feel your products before buying them, they rely heavily on product images, which is why the images have to look top-notch.

Rule of thumb - never post unprocessed images on your website. In case you are looking to make your images sharp and professional, contact CutOutWiz for any image-related solutions.

Especially for this kind of product, it is a good idea to have multiple images of the product, from multiple angles, so that the customer can have a feel of what they are buying. If you are looking for an image processing company that will solve all your needs, you can check out CutOutWiz.

  • Use a star rating widget to let website visitors evaluate your business. They create standardization, allowing customers to compare different products easily. It also helps you get feedback about your products.

  • Customers read user reviews more than they read product descriptions. If they find that 50 other people have liked your product and have purchased from you, it helps your credibility and they feel safer buying from you. So try to add some reviews of your products and services to your homepage.

  • You will be surprised how much you can benefit from a chatbot. It can collect your necessary customer data, help you analyze which stuffs are trending or in more demand, and overall solve your problems by answering common questions so you won't have to.

Hope this helps you. If you find it useful, leave a like to let me know! Happy Selling! Thank you and the Very Best of Luck to you!

Hi @woodiorsshop Great job on the website and I love the quirky humor.

Have you had a chance to analyze your site traffic to understand, the reason behind the lack of sales?

Is it low traffic or a high bounce rate? A bounce rate could be an indication of: Lack of product information No live customer support option No information about shipping and return policies There are apps on the Shopify app store that can help you find a permanent fix for each of these issues. Or you can sign up for Relish AI conversational AI-powered chatbot/shopping assistant.

Our chatbot app is designed to reduce the burden on customer support, automate simple and repetitive tasks, reduce response time, boost customer satisfaction and reduce the number of support tickets.

What can Relish AI's chatbot do: Provide instant answers for product and brand FAQs with our revolutionary conversational FAQs feature 24/7 smart, automated customer support Reduce bounce rate by engaging the user from the moment they land on your store Reduce support tickets by automating support functions like order tracking, cancellations and refunds Reduce your cost of customer support Reduce cart abandonment with personalized incentives like free shipping and discount coupons to nudge the user to complete the purchase Thank you. I hope you find this helpful.

Hello @woodiorsshop

Hope you are doing good. Your store looks nice and here are few suggestions.

Make a Sticky header for easy navigation. It helps customer to access menu at any time they want.

Mention more contact details of your store, which builds trust on your store.

Include Blog page,  blog posting will allow you to show your followers a personal side of your business. In this way you can engage with Existing and New customers.

You can promote your products with word of mouth strategy. Boost your sales with the app from the shopify app store   which helps to increase your sales further. Improve your conversions by directly reaching those who close to your customers.

There is no terms and conditions checkbox at checkout. I suggest you to install an app from shopify app store which provides 'I agree to the Terms and Conditions' before checkout .As it makes easy for the customer to read your terms and policies.

You can also sell your products on Etsy marketplace as it is very good platform to sell unique, handmade and Vintage goods . If you are already selling on Etsy store consider our Etsy Integration app in the shopify app store. Etsy is a Huge marketplace, if you have any unique or Handmade product in your store, you can give further exposure to your products.
