New store launched - any honest feedback is appreciated

Hey everyone!
I just opened a store selling products for pets, like toys, equipment etc. I am mostly targeting customers in the USA. So far I have only run one "opening ad" on Facebook, which gained some traffic to the website, but no sales. So I have probably a lot of things I can improve on my store. I would really appreciate some feedback on what I can improve, from people who have been in this game longer than me. My website: https://www.furryfriends-club.com/

Hi @Yearhouse

I run a test in your website.

And for the UX design, In my opinion. Your store needs a unique design to catch customers attention. Add some animation on the buttons, shadow colors and more. Make it more lively and give life to your product designs. You must attract and use the cuteness of your pictures.

The cuteness is unnotice but the white space yes.

I hope It help.

Hi @Yearhouse,

This is Kate from PageFly - Shopify Landing Page Builder App.

Your store has a great design, and I believe there are some simple CRO tips that could further improve your conversion rates. Let me share some ideas with you:

1. Adjust announcement bar

Use a white or light-colored text for the "10% OFF" and a contrasting background color that is dark or bold. This will make the text stand out and be easy to read, and it will also help to create a sense of urgency.

2. Add store favicon

The favicon acts as a visual bookmark for your store, helps people find and come back to your store. To make your store stand out more, consider changing the favicon.

3. Adjust information on the hero banner

The hero banner is the most prominent visual element on your homepage, and it's crucial to make a strong first impression on visitors.

  • Heading: Your headline should be clear, catchy, and to the point. It should tell visitors what you're offering and why they should care.
  • Paragraph: A few bullet points or a short paragraph can provide more details about your offer. Keep it brief and easy to scan, as visitors often only read a few lines of text before deciding to engage further.
  • Image: A high-quality image that is relevant to your headline and supporting text can help to capture attention and make your hero banner more visually appealing.

You can check this image for reference:

4. Remove empty space on the header

The current header size takes up one-third of the page, which can make scrolling feel clunky and disrupt the user experience. Reducing the header's height will create a more balanced and user-friendly layout.

5. Add “Add to cart” button on product list

Customers can quickly add items to their carts without having to navigate to each individual product page, saving time and effort. That helps increase your conversion rates, leading to more sales.

6. Establish trust and engage customers by adding these elements to your homepage:

Trust badges: Display icons like secure payment gateways or accreditation logos to show visitors that your store is legitimate and safe for transactions. This is especially important in the apparel industry, where customers are often concerned about product quality and payment security. Like this:

Testimonials: Showcase positive feedback from satisfied customers to build trust in your brand and encourage new visitors to make a purchase. Sharing testimonials demonstrates the positive experiences of others, reducing any hesitation potential customers may have.

7Prepare for Christmas promotion

Boost your holiday revenue with customized strategies for Christmas you can use a page builder app to create new section with:

  • Offer a discounted rate for gift wrapping during the holiday season. This can make it more appealing to customers.
  • Promote your gift wrapping services on social media and in your email campaigns. Use eye-catching visuals and clear calls to action.
  • Create a sense of urgency with countdown timers.

Hi Yearhouse,

This is Amee from Gojiberry - Shopify Survey & Feedback App

What a cute store you have! I love the choice of photos and the style of your store. I took a look at your store and have a few suggestions that will help increase conversion rate:

1. Testimonials. Showcasing a few testimonials on your home page -- whether from online customers or family/friends, helps promote more consumer trust and confidence.
2. SNS. Link your instagram or tiktok or pinterest to your site if you already have an account. For Instagram you can show your feed as well on your website.
3. Call to action button. Add an add-to-cart button or any call-to-action button underneath each product.
4.  Shipping info. Offer some info regarding shipping and discounts if people buy over a certain amount!
5. Ask your customers! (Most effective for increasing conversion) When you have some converting customers, ask them how they found out about your shop. You can easily do so with a post-purchase survey app, and reward your customers with coupons/points to keep them coming back again. Once you find out your strongest marketing channel, focus more effort and money on that.

Hope this helps!

Congrats on opening your store, @Yearhouse!

When you first start investing in paid advertising, it's likely to see some traffic as a result, but it can take some time to really narrow down your target audience before you see those visitors converting to customers.

Here are a few things that I think could influence a potential customer's trust and encourage them to make a purchase

  • Tailor your refund policy to your business: The current refund policy mentions some products you might not sell, like plants and beauty products). It's important to ensure this page is concise, easy to read, and specific to your business.
  • Scan the website for any placeholder sections: I noticed that there were some blank sections on the product pages (image with text sections) and on the blog page (a related products section). You can hide any unused sections in your theme editor under Online Store > Themes > Customize by clicking the eye icon next to the sections you don't need, or you can remove them if you won't be needing them later.
  • Add more blog posts: Adding blog posts, especially on a consistent schedule, will help build customer trust. Blogging more frequently can also help draw traffic to the store since there is search engine optimization built into your blog.

I've got some resources to share that I think might help you with marketing and increasing traffic to your store:

Overall store looks good but a few things:

-Logo looks off to me, it may be a sizing issue or the lack of a wordmark along with it as the image is somewhat generic

-Too much white in my opinion

-You should add "quick add" buttons for a more convenient/fast shopping experience

-It currently takes alot of clicks to go from the homepage to a successful purchase (the more clicks, the less likely a sale will be made generally speaking)

I hope that helps!
