Hi guys. My name is Shelby. I'm a single mom of a 12yr old son and trying to launch my store/career here through Shopify. I am drop shipping jewelry because I also make jewelry so possibly going to add homemade items in the future. My website is

www.luxygems.com

And any and all feedback is welcome. I'm getting a few organic views, and some paid as well but my marketing budget as of now is very small. I just launched Aug 1st. NO sales. Which I'm ok with for now as I build an audience. Is there Anything I can improve? Be brutally honest please. I'm adding new products tonight and through the weekend as well. Just wanted to introduce myself and get unbiased opinions on what I have so far. Self doubt is my greatest enemy to I thank you in advance for your help.

Hello @Luxygems

Hope you are well. For an owner with very little experience, you have done a pretty good job. I must say your aesthetic eye is very keen.

Here are some areas where you could consider working on

  • Add a sticky header. The headings are important to navigate the site. If the headers keep disappearing, it makes it hard to find what the customer is looking for. That is why if you make your headers sticky, the user can see them even if they have scrolled down, which makes the site more user friendly.

You can also consider making your headings a bit bigger or bolder, so that they catch the eye more easily.

  • A good idea is to have your newsletter as a popup so that it shows up when the customer enters the home page. This will make it more visible and attract more people to your newsletter from where you can target more interested people.

  • People tend to buy more from people they can easily relate to. If you share your journey, your goals, and your aspirations with your customers, it will be easier for people to connect with you. If you can create an emotional connection with your visitors, people are sure to buy products from you.

  • Use a star rating widget to let website visitors evaluate your business. They create standardization, allowing customers to compare different products easily. It also helps you get feedback about your products.

  • Customers read user reviews more than they read product descriptions. If they find that 50 other people have liked your product and have purchased from you, it helps your credibility and they feel safer buying from you. So try to add some reviews of your products and services to your homepage.

  • You will be surprised how much you can benefit from a chatbot. It can collect your necessary customer data, help you analyze which stuffs are trending or in more demand, and overall solve your problems by answering common questions so you won't have to.

  • You should also add a Call-To-Action (CTA) or a Shop Now button to the banner, so that users can be redirected to the relevant product page, without much delay.

Hope this helps you. If you find it useful, leave a like to let me know! Happy Selling! Thank you and the Very Best of Luck to you!

Hi Shelby (@Luxygems),

Welcome to the Shopify community forums! I appreciate your honesty and I can definitely see how valuable a small business like this one can be for you.

Having a look at your store, I want to let you know that you have done a great job so far! It's clean, easy to navigate, the colors compliment each other. I can tell you put in a lot of effort and it shows!

My suggestions for moving forward will be to look into organic marketing to grow your customer base by the holiday season, which in Shopify's terms in only a few weeks away. We just released a blog on organic marketing on a shoestring budget that might have some great resources for you: Shopify Blog - Organic Marketing.

I would also look at increasing the impact of some of the text on your website. I found the scale and size of the font for your standard content is very easy to slide over and doesn't carry much weight. Areas like your Newsletter Signup form on the homepage and your product descriptions:

06-16-36221-53854

I would also encourage you to include an About Us page. Creating a story that customers can connect with really helps. You need to reach out to them and recreate that same shopping experience they would get from purchasing in person.

Best of luck with your new business Shelby, and don't hesitate to reach out to our support team if you ever need a second pair of eyes on anything.
