Feedback for your online store from the community
We've had our store up and running for a few months now and have not had 1 visitor. Can someone please look it over and tell me what I'm doing wrong? We've done product and pricing research, adjusted pricing to be competitive, created our own descriptions and have spent a lot of money we don't really have trying to make this work. Any advice please would be greatly appreciated. Store is TheTakeaway.store

Hi @brittbrit,
It’s Kate here from PageFly, a Shopify Landing Page Builder app. Congrats on launching! Your store looks fantastic and it's clear you've put a lot of thought into it. I know it can be a bit discouraging if you're not seeing the traffic or sales you'd like, so I wanted to share some tips that could help boost your store's performance:
Homepage
Think about using a mega menu. This can really help customers find exactly what they're looking for quickly. You can add sub-menus for product categories, sales, and more.
There’s a small error right on the homepage. Fixing this will make your store look more professional and polished. First impressions matter, you know.
In the product list section, it looks like the second image is cut off on the sides, which might prevent customers from getting the full picture of the product. Also, adding a hover effect to the 'Add to Cart' button and making it bigger and more colorful will make it pop and encourage clicks.
Adding pictures or avatars to your testimonials can really boost their impact. New customers trust real feedback from others, so showcasing this right on the homepage with emotional and engaging stories will definitely be a win.
Your homepage feels a bit short and might be missing some key sections that could enhance your conversion rates. Here’s what you could add:
I’ve taken a look at your product page, and I have a few suggestions that could help enhance the shopping experience:
I noticed that the names of your products aren’t very clear, which seems to be a common issue across your store. A good, descriptive product name can really make a difference by helping customers understand at a glance what you’re offering. Also, there’s a section that I marked that isn’t functioning properly. Could you take a moment to check on that? Making sure all parts of your page work smoothly is key to keeping customer trust.
The details about your products could be clearer. Buyers often look for specific information like warranty policies, easy-to-understand features in bullet points, and whether they can check the product before purchase. Adding these details can reassure customers and make them more likely to hit that ‘Add to Cart’ button.
t looks like there’s no ‘Add to Cart’ button on the related products. Including one can simplify the buying process and improve the overall shopping experience.
Consider moving the benefits section higher up on the page. Customers typically want to know the benefits of a product early on to help them decide if it’s right for them. Also, if you don’t have reviews yet, consider adding a testimonials section here.
The social media buttons in the footer aren’t working. Since these links can be important for building trust and engaging customers, making sure they function correctly is crucial.
Lastly, the price should be more prominent, with clear information about taxes. Highlighting any promotions or discounts can encourage purchases. The “You May Also Like” section is a good start, but suggesting related products or accessories could increase sales.
Consider adding email capture features, like pop-ups or banners, to grow your marketing list. Highlighting current promotions or discounts effectively on the homepage and product pages can attract more customers. Acquiring backlinks from reputable sources and avoiding links from third-party or untrusted sites will help enhance your SEO.
Track user behavior, sales, and conversion rates using Google Analytics and Shopify Analytics. Actively seeking customer feedback and incorporating it into your improvements will help continuously enhance the shopping experience. These steps should enhance user experience, boost SEO, and ultimately increase conversions on your Shopify store.
By focusing on these areas, you can significantly enhance your store’s user experience and drive more conversions. I hope you find these tips helpful for your Shopify store. Let’s continue to support each other in optimizing our stores!

Hi @brittbrit ,
It sounds like you’ve put a lot of effort into optimizing your store’s products and pricing, which is great! However, as you mentioned, the issue seems to be with driving traffic to your website. Here are a few suggestions to help improve your website traffic:
I hope these tips help! If you find my suggestions useful, please let me know by giving this post a like and accepting it as a solution. Best of luck with your store!
Hi @brittbrit ,
I understand how tough it can be to invest time and resources without seeing the results you’re hoping for. After reviewing your store, I noticed a few areas that could benefit from some fine-tuning, which may help set a solid foundation. However, driving traffic is a bigger challenge that will require more than just store tweaks—it’ll involve a strong marketing strategy.
Key Areas for Improvement:
- SEO Optimization: Make sure each product page includes specific keywords that your target customers are searching for, like "RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard" instead of just "Gaming Keyboard." This will help make your products more visible in search engines.
- Favicon Setup: Adding a favicon can make your store look more professional and recognizable. This small change helps build brand trust and enhances user experience. You can add it via Shopify > Online Store > Themes > Customize > Theme Settings > Favicon.
- Hero Banner: The hero banner should clearly communicate what your store is about. Swap the random image for something that showcases your high-end products, like a sleek gaming setup or a close-up of your best-selling tech. Add a clear call-to-action, such as “Discover Pro-Level Gaming Gear Now.”
- Avoid Heavy Text: After the hero banner, avoid large blocks of text that may overwhelm your visitors. Instead, showcase your flagship product with a clean image and brief description like, “Precision and Power in Every Keypress – Shop Our Mechanical Gaming Keyboards.”
- Product Pages: High-quality images and clear product descriptions are crucial. Make sure to showcase the key features of each product with multiple angles, and keep descriptions focused on the benefits, like improved gaming performance, customization options, or durability.
Building a Marketing Strategy:
Since traffic hasn’t started flowing yet, the real challenge lies in building a solid marketing strategy. Here are a few approaches you might consider:
- Targeted Social Media Ads: Ads on Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok could be effective, especially if they target tech enthusiasts, gamers, or people interested in high-end accessories. Start with one core product and test different audiences to find what works best.
- Content Marketing: Blogs like “Top 5 Gaming Accessories Every Gamer Needs” or “How to Build the Ultimate Gaming Setup” can help position your store as an expert in the tech space, attracting organic traffic over time.
- Email Marketing: If you don’t have an email list yet, consider offering something in return for sign-ups, like a small discount. Then, keep subscribers engaged with updates on new products, promotions, or tips for getting the most out of their gear.
Hiring a Freelancer or Getting More Insight:
Since building a marketing strategy can be complex, it might be worth hiring a freelancer with experience in eCommerce marketing. Platforms like Upwork or Fiverr allow you to find professionals who specialize in digital marketing, SEO, and advertising for online stores. They can help provide a strategy tailored to your store’s needs.
Additionally, following Shopify’s resources and joining their community can provide valuable insights. Shopify offers excellent blogs, guides, and even free courses to help you with topics like SEO, ads, and store optimization.
I hope these suggestions can provide some direction, but remember, traffic generation will require a comprehensive strategy. Consider working with a marketing freelancer or taking advantage of Shopify’s resources to get expert advice on the next steps. Best of luck, and feel free to reach out if you need further assistance!

Hi @brittbrit
I see you did some work and it could be a good base but you need to change several things. To tell you the truth your store does look like a fake/scam store. Here is why: first, .store domain does not have the same weight as.com domain. You are using a free Dawn theme which is fine, but it is not configured correctly. Your colors do not match a tech brand. Your home page is not quite oriented to users. Banner images are wrong and leads to not so greatly defined collections. Your images are not unique, people can easily find the same products elsewhere. And your text should be a bit more realistic, "cutting edge technologies" is more like affordable Chinese stuff.
But to me, a certain way for customers to leave your site is a lack of contact info. I mean, put yourself in the buyers position, would you trust a store that have a Gmail contact with "electronicgadgets296962828", plus does have no address or phone or business info and has copied privacy policy from some UK site?
We wrote an article on how to spot a fake Shopify store, there are so many of them now, and your check so many boxes. So check it out and do the opposite and improve your store.
Hey @brittbrit here are a few suggestions. The fact that you don’t have even 1 visitor as at the time you made this post means you need to really intensify marketing efforts or change your strategies entirely. You already alluded to money being an issue, but if possible paid ads could work wonders for you. The write up on the homepage should be made way shorter and concise. It’s too long and it can bore people out.
it would also be a good idea to add videos to the product gallery so people can see the items in action if possible.
This is an accepted solution.
