Not getting enough traffic nor sales

I am not getting enough traffic to my store.   Also, there are very few sales.   I post on facebook, instagram on a daily.  However there is no conversions to sales.  I am not sure if there is an issue with the design of the website.   I have had close friends to purchase and maybe a few others.  However,   I need to know if there is an issue with the content on the web page or the design causing the issue.

Hi, I’m Wayne from Akohub. We have been working with many brands to run online stores. I have viewed your website and hope our expertise can help you.

The theme design of your site is clean and inviting, and you implemented a reviews section, loyalty program widget, and CTA in the hero section which is good for user experience. However, some parts will need to be fixed.

First this part is not aligned, so I would strongly suggest to modify for a better overview.

Some images need a better quality one. For example, this recent one looks like some random picture taken from a phone, which will affect the order.

Furthermore, I will recommend launching retargeting ads which can significantly enhance your conversion rates by re-engaging visitors who have previously shown interest in your website. By displaying relevant ads to users as they browse other sites, you can remind them of their initial interest, effectively nudging them back toward making a purchase.

To effectively implement retargeting campaigns, I would recommend our Ako Marketing app, which is designed to launch tailored retargeting campaigns based on your audience's specific behaviors and preferences. This approach helps recapture potential customers and builds brand awareness, ensuring that your business remains top-of-mind during their decision-making process.

Hello @ethelk2044 ,

I'm Eray, e-commerce focused designer and developer. I have taken a look at your store and there is a lot that can be improved to optimize the conversions. I wouldn't look at the design flaws as issue, but areas to improve. Even best selling brands keep on changing their designs. Congrats on your sales and that's great! I'll have few suggestions to improve:

The key focus should be to give a branded experience to the visitors, making them feel like they're experiencing something personal and authentic to your brand. Given that Camellia aims to be a luxury brand, the storefront design should reflect the feeling of products being sold. As well as the design, the content should clearly reflect what sets apart you from your competitors.

1) Header:

  • I would move away from the current header background color. Colors can be effective, but only if they reflect the brand's tone in harmony with other colors. Until figuring out colors, white background can't hurt the luxury feel. Also trasnparent background on load, blending with the banner image (without losing contrast) can add up to the premium feel; if done right.
    ErayBarslan_0-1735038302716.png
  • On logo, the text below "lux scents" is almost impossible to read. For now I would suggest removing it and let visitors focus on "Camellia Lux Scents". It'll also help reducing the header height. Currently it's too wide.
  • In addition to reduce the height, I'd suggest moving the logo and menu as seen in image. This would allow a cleaner and more user friendly header.
  • The cart icon, is seen in many dropshipping store, most having basic generic designs. I'd suggest changing it, perhaps a "bag" icon that would resonate with your audience. Even little changes like these, add up to the overall experience.
  • With the header height reduced, I would suggest having header as sticky always - not just on scroll up. Firstly, the logo will be constantly in visitors' view, will help the branding. And users tend to scroll down but not up. If they reach to bottom and not interested enough, they may jump to another site. It always helps to let users navigate seamlessly through the store.

2) Banner:

  • Banner is perhaps the most crucial part of the website design. Visitors judge the website within first few seconds of visit. It should both clear (on what brand offers) and visually appealing.
    ErayBarslan_1-1735038595259.png
  • With your brand, the image should feel both refreshing and premium. Current choice fails at doing both. I'd explore more options. Working with product images and setting a custom background would I believe work best, considering products have your logo on them. It may however require some photoshop skills.
  • Visitors do not read long texts, especially if they're thrown at the very beginning. The text below the banner can be incorporated into the banner, pointing out what sets you apart. You can explore slogans like: "Pure, non-toxic luxury... crafted in Harrisburg, PA."
  • Rest of the info in the paragraph, can be given in standalone sections. For example you can explore a trust badge section with "non-toxic" , "carcinogen-free", "paraben-free", "pthalate-free". Long texts are boring, but visuals always work. If done correct. Example:

3) Category Cards:

  • Category cards doesn't look bad, but can be improved for a branded/premium feel.
    ErayBarslan_3-1735038737362.png
Visual harmony always adds up to the design. There is a harmony within products themselves, all having your logo. It can be improved by using a similar background. For example background in the second image can be used in others. Although it may again need photoshop skills.
  • Alternatively, category names can be incorporated into the card design which can add up to the premium feel. Example:
    ErayBarslan_4-1735038820922.png

4) Product List:

  • First of all, the product slider isn't intuitive due to small left-right icons below.
    ErayBarslan_5-1735038901762.png
  • Also it doesn't look visually appealing, overflowing to the right. I don't think it's worth using a slider just for 10 products. Most visitors will only see the visible products and skip the rest.

  •

The first product is longer than others, making the design inconsistent. To add more into the premium feel and visual harmony, I would suggest placing all products with a transparent background. Example:
    ErayBarslan_6-1735039007305.png
  • I would suggest keeping the product name and pricing as opposed to example, however text presentation can be improved.

5) Add Content:

  • You can include what sets you apart from competition into homepage. In addition to the trust-badge section suggestion above, I'd suggest adding "Our Promise" from about us to the homepage. Visitors should know you give back to the community. But it should be more clear on how. Example:
    ErayBarslan_7-1735039104354.png
  • As Camellia is a new brand not many know about, talking about products/categories backed with visuals can help visitors get an idea of, why they would want to buy from you, directly on the homepage. Examples:
    ErayBarslan_8-1735039158678.pngErayBarslan_9-1735039173712.png
  • More content can be explored. I would suggest analyzing competitors and see what works out there for brands making sales.

6) Offers:

  • You offer free shipping $65+ which is great. Adding how much more they need into cart, will make sure nobody misses the offer. Example:
    ErayBarslan_10-1735039267221.png
  • Two level offer can work even better. 1) $65 for free shipping. 2) $100 for the gift! The presence of the gift (what's inside) can alone boost your sales. If I'm looking to buy from you, my biggest concern would be "Will this smell good?", because once I open a bottle, can't return. Here comes my suggestion:
  • Including different perfumes (preferably all) in very tiny bottles, just for a few use, for customers to test your perfumes. Then they can buy their favorites. If I saw such offer, I could also be inclined to reach $100 candles / diffusers just to test them perfumes. If you're able to offer a similar deal, it would move you up in the competition. What makes you unique, is a plus; especially if they make customers happy.
  • There are more offers that can be explored, like a Loyalty & Reward Program for continuous purchases and community building. However such method may not always align with a luxury brand. Analyzing competitors and audience would help in such decisions.

I would suggest touching to product page design as well. The idea is to have a unique brand identity and build the design around it, with a conversion driven focus regarding content and functionality. I'd highly suggest a redesign, and the key points in the feedback can be the starting point. After that, you can implement A/B testing to further boost sales. Optimizing conversions, will also help with marketing efforts, where you can switch to paid ads.

I believe applying these changes will help a lot and good luck! Feel free to reach out to me if you need help implementing these or need any further assistance.

Cheers,
Eray Barslan

Overall Score: 8.25

Color: 8
Review: The website uses a soft and neutral color palette, primarily consisting of whites, beiges, and light browns. This creates a clean and elegant look that is consistent with the brand's luxurious image.

Suggest: To enhance the visual appeal, consider adding subtle gradients or highlights to certain elements to create depth. Additionally, using a limited color scheme with strategic pops of color (e.g., gold accents) could make certain features stand out more.

Layout: 8.5
Review: The layout is well-organized and easy to navigate. The header includes a clear menu, and the product categories are prominently displayed. The new arrivals section is visually appealing, with consistent spacing and alignment.

Suggest: Consider optimizing the responsiveness of the layout for smaller screens to ensure a seamless user experience on mobile devices. Additionally, adding more whitespace around product images could make them appear larger and more prominent.
