Hi @Elegantemporium

  • Optimize Your Site for Search Engines: Make sure your store is optimized for search engines (SEO). Use relevant keywords in your product descriptions, titles, meta tags, and alt text for images.
    • Keyword Research: Identify the key terms your potential customers are searching for and incorporate them into your site.
    • Blogging: Start a blog to add fresh content to your site regularly. This can help drive traffic to your store through organic search. Create content related to your products or industry to engage your target audience.
  • Google Search Console & Analytics: Ensure you're using Google Search Console to track your search performance and fix any potential SEO issues. Google Analytics will help you understand your traffic better and identify where visitors are coming from.

Hi @Elegantemporium! I'm Tracy from BON Loyalty, the top-rated Shopify loyalty app.

First off, congrats on launching your store! I've visited your website and I really like its design, I see how much effort you've poured into building it. After launching a store, it's quite common if the traffic and sales is low. In my opinion, you should take time to analyze traffic sources and customer behavior effectively for your store. This process will help you identify where visitors are coming from, what’s working (and what’s not), and how to adjust your strategies to increase conversions. There are various marketing tools that can help you to track and analyze this data, such as:

1. Analyze Traffic Sources in Shopify Analytics
Understanding how visitors find your store gives insight into whether you’re reaching the right audience.
Steps to Check Traffic Sources in Shopify: Go to Shopify Admin > Analytics > Reports > Sessions by Traffic Source.
You can be able to check:
- Direct traffic: People who typed your URL directly.
- Organic search: Visitors from Google or Bing search results.
- Social media: Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, etc.
- Paid ads: Clicks from Google or Meta ads.
- Referral traffic: Traffic from backlinks or affiliate websites.

How to interpret:
- Direct traffic: This indicates brand awareness—people already know about your store. If it’s low, you may need more brand-building efforts.
- Social media traffic: A high percentage suggests your social presence is working, but poor conversions might mean that visitors are not the right audience.
- Organic search traffic: If this is low, you might need to focus on SEO strategies to improve your visibility.
- Paid ads traffic: If this traffic isn’t converting, you may be targeting the wrong audience or need to align the ad copy better with product pages.

2. Use Google Analytics for Deeper Insights
Set up Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to monitor detailed customer behavior and traffic sources beyond Shopify’s native analytics.
Key metrics to track:
- Bounce rate: The percentage of visitors who leave without taking any action.
- Session duration: How long visitors stay on your website.
- Pages per session: The number of pages a visitor views during their session.
- Exit rate: The percentage of visitors who leave from a specific page.

You can use GA4 to check:
- Behavior flow report: Visualizes the journey visitors take across your site. This will show where they drop off.
- Acquisition report: Provides insights into which traffic sources bring the most value.
- Conversion path analysis: Helps identify the steps visitors take before making a purchase (or abandoning their cart).

What to look for:
- High bounce rate: If the homepage or product pages have a high bounce rate, visitors may not find the content relevant or engaging.
- Short session duration (under 30 seconds): Indicates visitors aren’t engaging with your content or are confused.
- Low pages per session: Might suggest poor internal linking or a lack of interesting content.

3. Heatmaps and Session recording tools
Use tools like Hotjar or Crazy Egg to see exactly how visitors interact with your website.
What heatmaps tell You:
- Click maps: Show where visitors click the most. If they click non-interactive elements, they may be confused.
- Scroll maps: Indicate how far down the page visitors scroll before leaving.
- Move maps: Track where visitors move their cursor, giving insight into their thought process.

How session recordings help:
- Watch real visitor sessions to understand behavior—why they might hesitate or abandon the cart.
- Identify pain points, such as slow-loading images or confusing elements.

4. Segment Traffic by Customer Behavior and Demographics
Both Shopify Analytics and Google Analytics can help you segment visitors by:
- Device: Are mobile visitors converting less than desktop users?
- Geography: Are certain regions performing better than others?
- New vs. Returning visitors: Returning visitors should ideally convert better. If not, consider loyalty incentives.

Next steps:
- If mobile conversion is low: Ensure the mobile checkout process is seamless.
- If a specific region has high traffic but no sales: Offer localized content, currency options, or region-specific promotions.

By diving deep into these analytics and behavior tools, you’ll be able to identify and resolve key issues, optimize your traffic sources, and make meaningful changes to your store. I hope that my suggestion is helpful for you. Good luck!

Hi @Elegantemporium

I notice the answer from websensepro is good enough to answer your question here, but after checking your website again, please kindly check my another suggestion below for reference, thank you.

When I search your website from Google, I notice your web pages display a lot in the first page of search results, which is great to know. However, your meta description contents seem very vague and hard to let users know the details of related pages. Moreover, there exist text contents only in the search result and the user fails to know more details about the website contents, such as images. Therefore, I suggest you consider optimizing your page meta tags content and using structured data to make your page content colorful when searching in Google. Here is a guideline about the structured data in Google, you can feel free to check it.
