Seeking Feedback on My New Store – Struggling with Traffic and Conversions

Hi Shopify Community,

I launched my store in August 2024 (www.linerya.com), and despite optimizing it for SEO, I’m still struggling to get conversions. On average, I receive 15-30 visits daily, but no sales yet.

Here’s a bit about my store:

  • It offers personalized and creative products (e.g., custom tote bags, pet-themed items, and wall art).
  • I’ve worked on SEO, including meta descriptions, alt text, and keywords, but I’m not sure if that’s enough.

Is it normal for a new store to have this level of traffic and no conversions? What are some actionable tips I can implement to turn visitors into buyers?

I’d also love some feedback on my store's design, user experience, or marketing strategy. Any suggestions on where I could improve would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi @LBarbosa,

Thank you for your question. Seeing a nice store like yours with low traffic and no conversion is so frustrating.

Here are some of my recommendations that you can consider following to improve:

Enhance Product Appeal:

  • Thumbnail and photos: Showcase the portrait with professional photos from multiple angles and close-ups to highlight details on different contrasting backgrounds. If you can't set up a new background, try Photoroom.
  • Compelling Description: Craft a clear and detailed description that emphasizes the features, benefits, and materials.

Build Trust and Confidence:

  • Customer Reviews: Add a star rating review widget to your product page. After that, try creating/importing as many as reviews possible across your products. Social proof helps build trust.
  • Return/Refund Policy: Clearly outline your return/refund policy for buyer peace of mind.
  • Payment Methods: Add payment badges under the Buy button on your product pages.

Finally, you should do some tests on your pages, navigation and payment to see if everything works smoothly. I hope my answer is helpful!

Best,
Liz.

Thanks for reaching out to the community. We are MooseDesk, a comprehensive Live Chat, FAQ & Helpdesk App designed to elevate your customer support experience.

Congrats on your store! Your store looks stunning. I can tell you have put a lot of effort into building this. However, I have some comments to make the good get even better. Here are some of my recommendations for better customer experience, please kindly check.

  • Revamp the Hero Banner: Clearly showcase your products and unique selling points. A compelling banner will immediately grab attention and encourage customers to explore further.
  • Reorganize Product Display: Position the product collection section (Shop by categories) just below the hero banner to quickly introduce visitors to your offerings.
  • Improve Readability: Choose a more legible font for body text, as the current one may hinder user experience.
  • Add Communication Features: Include a live chat widget, social media redirect buttons, and an order tracking feature for better customer engagement and support.

I suggest exploring MooseDesk, a FREE LiveChat, FAQ & Helpdesk App that can help your support experience easier, better, faster!

With MooseDesk's Omnichannel Support, you can engage with customers through live chat, manage inquiries with a robust ticket system, and provide quick responses via a WhatsApp button.

Hi @LBarbosaI'm Tracy from BON Loyalty, the top-rated Shopify loyalty app.

Just visited your store and I think you’ve chosen a great niche! Demand for personalized and customized products is steadily increasing as people gravitate toward items that feel uniquely made just for them. Based on product expertise, here are some suggestions for improvement:

1. Choose a better background image
When selling personalized or custom products, remember that you’re not just selling the product itself—you’re selling an emotional connection. Customers want to feel like this is a one-of-a-kind, precious item crafted specifically for them. Or, if it’s a gift, they want it to convey love and thoughtfulness to the recipient. To tap into this, choose a background image that showcases your most unique products and emphasizes these emotional values. Highlight messaging that speaks directly to your customers’ desires and pain points to transform how they perceive your offerings.

2. Revamp the 'How It Works' section
The current slider format in this section makes it difficult for customers to get a clear, quick overview. Having to click through multiple slides or wait for the autoplay can be frustrating and time-consuming for someone just browsing. Consider switching to a layout that displays all the steps at once, making it easy for visitors to grasp how your customization process works at a glance. This small change could improve user experience significantly. You can take a look at this design for reference:

3. About your SEO strategy
While your efforts with meta descriptions, alt text, and keywords are on the right track, their effectiveness depends heavily on your overall keyword strategy. Success in SEO often means ranking in the top five results for your target keywords, so that’s a good benchmark to aim for. If you’re not there yet, I’d recommend consulting with an eCommerce SEO expert. They can offer more targeted and practical advice to help you improve your visibility and organic traffic.

That’s it for now! If you have any questions or want to discuss further, feel free to reach out. Good luck!

Hi @LBarbosa,

I am from Mageplaza - Shopify solution expert.

I would be happy to review your website and provide feedback on the performance. Here are my recommendations to improve your conversion rate:

1. Monitor Your Cart Abandonment Rate

A high cart abandonment rate can be particularly frustrating for your business, especially after investing significantly in attracting visitors to your site. This issue indicates that many potential customers are deciding not to complete their purchases, contributing to low conversion rates.

To address this, you can remind customers about the items left in their carts and encourage them to complete their purchases by:

  • Email Reminders: Send emails to customers who abandon their carts, reminding them of their items.
  • Incentives: Offer a discount or free shipping to motivate them to finalize their purchases.
  • For more detailed guidance, refer to an article from the Shopify Help Center

2. Improve SEO

Taking the time to ensure your web pages are properly optimized can help increase your organic traffic, meaning more potential customers browsing your products. SEO strategies can drive site traffic to your Shopify website effectively.

For an average small e-commerce store, you should get at least 1000 visitors per month to start having a stable source for sales.

Here are some basic elements you should check:

Title Tags & Meta Descriptions:

  • Each page should have unique, descriptive title tags and meta descriptions.
  • Include relevant keywords without overstuffing.

You can also check this SEO checklist by Shopify to learn more about optimizing your e-commerce store and blog. This will boost your online presence and bring more traffic to your website.

I hope my suggestions are helpful, feel free to give me any feedback. Good luck!

Hi @LBarbosa

I completely get how frustrating it can be to put so much effort into your store and not see the conversions yet. It’s not uncommon for new stores to face this challenge, so you’re not alone. Let me break this down into some actionable insights and ideas for you.

1. Traffic & Conversions – Is This Normal?

Yes, for a new store, it’s normal to have low traffic and no sales initially. Building trust and visibility takes time. However, it’s important to focus on increasing targeted traffic and optimizing your site to convert visitors into buyers. Here are some specific areas to improve:

2. Store Design & User Experience (UX)

Your store’s design plays a big role in building trust. From your description, I looked at your site (www.linerya.com), and here’s my feedback:

  • Homepage: Make it clear what you’re selling. A clean, eye-catching banner with your unique selling point (e.g., "Creative Custom Gifts for Everyday Moments") will grab attention. Right now, the homepage feels a bit generic.
  • Navigation: Ensure it’s simple. I noticed the categories could be more streamlined (e.g., “Shop by Collection: Tote Bags, Pet Gifts, Wall Art”).
  • Product Pages:
    • Include high-quality product images from multiple angles.
    • Add clear, concise product descriptions that focus on benefits (e.g., “Durable tote bags made for your daily adventures”).
    • Display customer reviews or testimonials for trust signals.
  • Speed & Mobile Optimization: Your site should load quickly, especially on mobile, as many users shop from their phones.

3. Marketing Strategies to Drive Targeted Traffic

  • Social Media Presence:
    • Showcase your custom products on Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok. These platforms work wonders for visually creative products. Use hashtags like #CustomGifts or #PersonalizedArt to attract your audience.
    • Create short videos showing the customization process or customer stories. People love seeing the “behind-the-scenes” side of your business.
  • Paid Ads: Consider running small-budget ads on Facebook and Instagram targeting specific niches like pet lovers or home decor enthusiasts.
  • Collaborations: Reach out to micro-influencers who align with your brand. For example, pet influencers could showcase your pet-themed items to their audience.
  • Email Marketing: Use popups offering discounts like "10% Off Your First Order" to capture email addresses, then nurture subscribers with engaging emails.

4. Building Trust and Credibility

  • About Page: Share your story! Customers connect with brands that feel personal and authentic.
  • Trust Badges: Include secure payment icons, shipping info, and a money-back guarantee to reassure customers.
  • Customer Reviews: Even if you don’t have buyers yet, ask friends or family who’ve tried your products to leave honest reviews.
  • Social Proof: Display recent activity like “5 people purchased this item in the last 24 hours” (apps like Fomo or Proof can help).

5. Conversion Tips

  • Add urgency: Use countdown timers or limited-time offers like “Order by [specific date] to get it by Valentine’s Day!”
  • Upsell or cross-sell: Suggest related products on your product pages or in the cart.
  • Simplify checkout: Reduce friction by allowing guest checkout and clearly showing shipping fees upfront.

Visualization

Here’s a quick example of how your Product Page Layout could look:

<h1>Custom Tote Bag – Add Your Own Design</h1>

  <img src="tote-bag-example.jpg" alt="Custom tote bag example">

<p>Made with 100% eco-friendly materials. Perfect for carrying books, groceries, or your everyday essentials.</p>

  <ul>

<li>Personalize with your own design or text</li>

    <li>Available in multiple colors</li>

  </ul>

Final Thoughts

Your store has so much potential—it’s all about tweaking the details and reaching the right audience. Be patient and consistent. Test different strategies and focus on building your brand’s story.

If you need any other assistance, feel free to reply and I will try my best to help.

Daisy
