Hey everyone,
I would really need some advice from you guys as I have no idea how to move on.
Few years ago I opened my Shopify store as addition to my Etsy store and Amazon Handmade. I didn't put much focus into it. I created it without any knowledge of SEO and how to build a Google- friendly website.I don't get much traffic, every now and then I get a sale. Now I would like to focus on growing my Shopify store instead of relying on marketplaces. The problem is that my page is super slow, I have plenty of errors and I wonder if there is a point of fixing it or should I just close it and build a new shop from the scratch. What do you think? What would you do?

Dear @magpetersson
Either improve your speed by solving the problem or go for redesigning
Hello @magpetersson,
To answer your question about starting over, I don't think you need to start over completely. The 2 main things slowing your store down are your theme and your photos. You can re-size your photos to a smaller size to improve speed and for your theme, you might consider switching to Debutify.
REVIEWS
I would highly recommend that you encourage your customers to leave a review on the products they purchase. Positive reviews are very valuable, they add a lot of trust to your store. We did a video showing a free review app you can use and how to set it up:
FAVICON
I’d recommend adding a favicon so that your visitors can find you quickly when they have multiple tabs open in their browser. We did a video on how to upload a favicon that you can watch here:
SEO
When you are on Etsy or Amazon, they have their own algorithm / search within Etsy & Amazon itself so when a person goes to either of these sites to find a product like you sell and types it in search, you may show up in results or rank highly because you have the reviews and are built up in their algorithm. Now that you are off Etsy & Amazon, your search pool is now massive. There is no within the platform search, now it's Google. This leads me to your SEO.
One very important piece of selling is getting the right kind of traffic to your store, your target audience (high traffic is not a good thing if it is the wrong kind of traffic). Good SEO will help you reach your intended audience organically. By default, Shopify will pull your product titles and descriptions and use that as your SEO (that is what is happening in your case). You don't want to leave your SEO to default, you want to make sure you include the same words that a person trying to find your product would search in Google. We created a video walking you through how to do your SEO that you can watch here:
SALES CHANNELS
I’d recommend utilizing Shopify’s sales channels for your social media pages. This is going to allow you to tag products that you post on your social media and then have that tag lead to your store. Here is how to implement it for Facebook and Instagram.
CURRENCY CONVERTER
I’d recommend adding in a currency converter since you ship worldwide. Here is a video we did showing some free currency converter app options:
SHIPPING
You need to add in an estimated shipping time at checkout. For some people, shipping time can be a deal breaker so they won’t proceed with their purchase without that information.
I will leave it at that for now but if you would like to talk to us 1-1, we offer sessions where we take a look at your store, identify the greatest issues holding you back, then provide solutions and advice. You can email us at ecomgeeksco@gmail.com for more information.
We hope our response was helpful, if it was, let us know by giving us a thumbs up and/or marking it as a solution!
Best of luck!
