Hi friends! I've been working on a baby and children's clothing brand and took a shot at building the website myself. I used the default Dawn theme and added a few custom codes. Would love to get some feedback on the homepage and product pages! Thank you in advance.

Hi @Pingfao

First, to say I really like your store. You managed to make it unique even if you are using a Dawn theme. There is a lot of work put into but also it is clear you put a lot of heart into it and it shows. Customers will like it a lot in general.

Now for some feedback. Homepage first and in general:

  • The announcement bar is fine, but when you launch put some text and make sure it is a link to some collection. The right side is a bit empty, so you could have one or two links there. Like Blog | Join VIP.
  • The logo is slightly off, think you do not need both DM and full name, feels redundant/ I would use a full one there and DM in other parts of the site so customers do remember it.
  • The menu has too many items. Some have two words so that all take up too much space and also distract customers a bit. Try to adjust it, maybe move some to the announcement bar?
  • Great touch on the user icon 🙂
  • For the hero banner think image does not explain that much. Would be interesting to have a page from the storybook maybe, with a real child in it. It would literally show that you can jump into a book 🙂 But also do add a button so customers click straight away.
  • The video is cute, but a bit short and too slow
  • All sections with two images could use a buy now button and maybe a slightly larger title font.
  • "How it works" on the first point second image goes over the text
  • Think page have more sections than needed, feels like too much scroll
  • The link lists in the footer look wrong, I think that is mobile view but on desktop, you can show all 3 without any problems

For product pages, not much to complain about. You nailed a lot of best practices there.

  • But, I find it strange that on some products you do not show what the actual product looks like. Probably you will add it, but think of a situation when a customer lands on that page. There are a lot of images and videos in the review section, a big plus but still.  For example Bamboo Headbands, I am not certain how that actually looks. There are few reviews but in other product
  • Think in the future to add a "complete the look" like block to add a headband with pajamas or matching for the family.
  • On the Size chart, there is. a Chat 💬 with us! but no link
  • You could add one tab for shipping, usually, product pages have that info

For the sliding cart, I am not sure how it looks with items in the cart. Link to the Enchanted Crown is fine if the cart is empty.

Also, the contact info is almost complete, would like to see the address too.

I wish you luck and a lot of sales.

Kind regards
Laza

Hi @Pingfao,

Thank you for your question. I have taken a look at your site and here are some of my recommendations that you can consider following to improve:

  • Optimize Your Product related sections:
  • Strong Call to Action: Add or adjust several Shop Now buttons to make them look outstanding.

Enhance product images:

  • Thumbnail and photos: Showcase the product with more photos from multiple angles and close-ups to highlight details on different contrasting backgrounds. If you can't set up a new background, try Photoroom.
  • Compelling Description: Craft a clear and detailed description that emphasizes the features, benefits, and materials.

Build Trust and Confidence:

  • Customer Reviews: Import as many reviews as possible. Social proof helps build trust. Currently, most of your products have identically 20 reviews, which makes it look pretty unreal.
  • Return/Refund Policy: Clearly outline your return/refund policy for buyer peace of mind.
  • Payment Methods: Add payment badges under the Buy button on your product pages.

I also recommend some Free apps that I think will have several features to make customers eager to take action and make a purchase:
AOV Trust Badges

Finally, you should do some tests on your pages, navigation and payment to see if everything works smoothly. I hope my answer is helpful!

Best,
Liz.

Hi @Pingfao,

I am from Mageplaza - Shopify solution expert.

I would be happy to review your website and provide feedback on the performance. Here are my recommendations to improve the UX/UI on homepage and product page:

1. Improve promotional banner and section on Homepage

mageplazacs_1-1732613221029.png

You should add seasonal banners for current promotions or collections (e.g., Summer Sale, Winter Collection) to catch the attention of customers. Also, please enhance the quality of video. It should display smoothly and clearly on both mobile and desktop.

Additionally, featuring sections like "Best Sellers" and "On Sale", New arrivals on the homepage can drive attention to popular and discounted products, encouraging visitors to engage more with your site. Here is a reference:

2. Adding Add-to-Cart (ATC) / Wishlist Buttons to You may also like

Making it easy for customers to add items to their cart or wish list directly from product lists can streamline the purchasing process and improve conversion rates. Here is a reference:

3. Improve search feature

You should make larger product images, show price and discount information, including size search, collection search, etc functionality to enhance search bar. This will help customers find their needs quickly, enhancing their shopping experience.  Below is a reference:

Hi @Pingfao, I'm Tracy from BON Loyalty, the top-rated Shopify loyalty app.

I had the chance to explore your website, and I must say, it’s absolutely stunning! I’m genuinely impressed with your products—they’ve got me wanting to buy something for my own child right away. Based on my personal experience, here are a few suggestions that might help you improve your website even further:

1. Hero banner visuals: While the image on the hero banner is beautiful, it’s not very practical. It doesn’t immediately tell first-time visitors what kind of products you’re selling or the overall category of your store. Consider replacing it with a product-focused image or video to help customers quickly understand what you offer on their first visit.

2. Illustration alignment: The second illustration overlaps with information from the first and third, making it look a bit cluttered. Adjusting the layout might make it more user-friendly.

3. Full-screen offers: During my browsing experience, the full-screen offer felt a bit overwhelming. It left me momentarily confused about where I was on the site. I’d suggest shrinking its size and slightly dimming the homepage background when the offer appears. This way, customers will know they’re still on the homepage.

4. Image size and placement: The image on the right side is partially covering the text, and its size is a bit too large. I found myself scrolling up and down just to view it properly, regardless of the screen size. Resizing or repositioning it could help improve the flow.

These are just a few personal thoughts I hope will be helpful for you. Wishing you the best of luck! 😊

Hi @Pingfao

I just took a look at your website, and you’ve done a fantastic job so far! For a self-built site using the Dawn theme, it looks clean, user-friendly, and aligns nicely with a baby and children’s clothing brand. Here are my thoughts and suggestions to help refine your design before going live:

Homepage Feedback:

1-Hero Banner:

  • What’s great: The banner images are adorable and set a warm tone for your brand. The soft colors and cozy vibes are on point for your target audience.
  • What can be improved: Add a clear call-to-action (CTA) button, like “Shop Now” or “Explore the Collection,” directly on the banner. It will encourage visitors to start browsing immediately.

2-Navigation:

  • Consider a sticky header so users can easily navigate back to other sections without scrolling up. It’s especially helpful on mobile.
  • The menu could include dropdowns for categories like "New Arrivals," "Baby Essentials," or "Gift Ideas" for easier browsing.

3-Trust Signals:

  • Add a section with customer testimonials or a “Why Choose Us?” block. Highlight things like sustainability, comfort, or safe fabrics, as parents value these aspects.
  • Display badges or certifications, e.g., "Organic Cotton," "Safe for Sensitive Skin," if applicable.

4-Footer:

  • The footer is clean but could benefit from a “Quick Links” section for popular pages (e.g., FAQs, Shipping Info, Contact Us).
  • Social media icons should be more prominent if you’re active on those platforms. Many parents check Instagram or Facebook for a brand’s vibe.

Product Page Feedback:

1-Product Images:

  • Images are lovely, but ensure there’s a mix of product-only shots and lifestyle images (e.g., babies or toddlers wearing the clothes). It helps parents visualize the products better.
  • If possible, include zoom functionality for images so users can see fabric details.

2-Descriptions:

  • The descriptions are good, but adding bullet points for quick-read features like fabric type, sizing info, and washing instructions would be super helpful.
  • Include details like “fits true to size” or “ideal for layering” to address common customer concerns.

3-Reviews:

  • If you haven’t already, enable product reviews or testimonials on the product pages. Seeing what other parents think can make a big difference in conversions.

4-Add to Cart Button:

  • Make it stand out more by using a contrasting color to grab attention.
  • If possible, add a mini pop-up or notification when an item is added to the cart. It reassures users the action was successful.

General Suggestions:

1-Mobile Optimization:

  • Check how your site looks on mobile devices, as most parents shop on their phones. Ensure text is readable, buttons are easy to tap, and images don’t load too slowly.
  • Keep the menu simple and intuitive for smaller screens.

2-Loading Speed:

  • Page speed matters! Run your site through tools like Google PageSpeed Insights or GTmetrix. Compressing images and minimizing custom codes can help if speed is an issue.

3-Brand Story:

  • Add a section about your brand—why you started it, your values, and how your products stand out. Parents often connect with brands that share a personal story.

Here’s an image of how a strong CTA and trust signal section might look:

If you want any help with custom coding tweaks or other design suggestions, feel free to reply. I’d love to assist further!

Daisy
