Feedback for your online store from the community
Hello
Following some really useful previous feedback some time ago I update the store home page including the graphics - any advice or suggestions on how it can be further improved would be greatly appreciated. Anything of note including graphics, positioning, product etc.
In the last 30 days my conversion rate is 3.38% (I use Google ads) but my gross sales are down 23% on the same time last year
My website: https://oldschoolfootball.co.uk/
Many thanks for your help 🙂

Your updated homepage at oldschoolfootball.co.uk looks sharp, those retro rugby and football graphics really pop and capture that nostalgic vibe perfectly!
To boost it further, consider adding a bold call-to-action button (like “Shop Now”) right under your “Discover Retro Rugby” banner to guide visitors straight to products; positioning-wise, it’ll catch their eye faster.
Your 3.38% conversion rate from Google Ads is solid, so the traffic’s there, but the 23% sales drop suggests maybe tweaking product visibility. Try featuring a “Best Sellers” section upfront or spotlighting a deal to spark impulse buys. The layout’s clean, but if the graphics overshadow product links, simplify a bit to keep the focus on shopping
Thank you 🙂
Hi @OldSchoolFootba,
We appreciate your inquiry in the Shopify Community. We are MooseDesk, a comprehensive Live Chat, FAQ & Helpdesk App designed to elevate your customer support experience.
Congrats on your new store! I can tell you have put a lot of effort into building this. Especially, there is a small pop-up window of 10% discount to boost sales as well as a “Football history” section to enrich customers’ knowledge and introduce the application of your products.
However, I have some comments to boost sales. Here are some of my recommendations, please kindly check.
1. Optimize sales pop-up window
It could be more incentivizing if you add a timing countdown (20 hours : 30 minutes left…). Also, leverage Social Proof and Scarcity by displaying low-stock alerts (e.g., “Only 3 left in stock!”) to create urgency and highlighting recent purchases (e.g., “X people bought this in the last hour”) to encourage action.
2. Optimize Hero banner
With just a glance over the hero banner, I can decide whether to continue exploring a shop or not. At my first view of your website, the hero banner is being cut and not attractive enough.
Therefore, I recommend that you optimize Hero Banner with the most captivating image of your products along with your tagline (benefits offered to your customers) (like “Relive the Glory Days – Classic Football, Timeless Style”)
3. Complete Homepage information to build trust in customers
As a customer, I would say that your Homepage hasn't offered enough information for me to build trust then to purchase. Therefore, I suggest the addition of Value Proposition (to differentiate your business) - Testimonials (to build trust in customers, you can relocate your Review page to this on Homepage) - final CTA button.
4. Add more human illustrations for the product
As a fashion consumer, I always wonder how that piece of clothing looks on me and people similar to me. Therefore, I would highly recommend adding more human illustration for your product.
5. Refine "About us" page
As your brand is about sportswear and particularly soccer pieces, it is important to build resonation and similarity in brotherhood and soccer championship among customers. Thus, try making “About us” more attractive with text blocks, images, etc.
6. Add Live chat widget and refine FAQ page
I can see that your website lacks a live chat feature and has not leveraged FAQ properly to allow customers to contact you immediately. How about having a powerful live chat to assist potential customers instantly, addressing their questions or concerns in real time? This can help prevent abandonment and encourage purchases.
Also, you can consider refining FAQ to address customer issues better and make their purchasing experience easier, then higher chances of sales success.
I suggest exploring MooseDesk, a FREE Live Chat, WhatsApp & FAQ App. You can easily reach customer support via WhatsApp, ensuring immediate assistance for inquiries. Also, the widget provide multi self-service options such as Order tracking, Translation and FAQ section empower customers to resolve common questions on their own, reducing the need for direct support.

Hi @OldSchoolFootba ! I'm Tracy from BON Loyalty, the essential Shopify loyalty program app.
First off, great job on updating your store! It's clear you've put thought into enhancing the homepage and graphics, and your current conversion rate of 3.38% is a solid start—especially with Google Ads. That said, I understand how frustrating it can be to see sales drop compared to last year. So, I've taken a closer look and have a few friendly suggestions to help tighten up the design, improve the shopping experience, and (hopefully) boost conversions.
1/ Homepage suggestion
- Resize the header & logo:
Right now, the header is taking up a lot of space—about 30% of the screen. Resizing the logo and reducing the header's height will give more room for your main content and make the page feel more balanced. This change is especially helpful for mobile users.
- Reposition the CTA button:
The "Shop Now" button is currently hanging out in the bottom right corner, which makes it easy to miss. Centering it and using a bold color that contrasts well with the background will make it more eye-catching. You could also add a short, punchy tagline like: "Discover Authentic Retro Football Apparel – Shop Now!"
2/ Product page
- Add reviews & Customer photos (UGC):
Social proof is a game-changer. If possible, encourage your happy customers to leave reviews and share photos of them rocking their purchases. Apps like Loox or Judge.me can help automate this. Featuring these on product pages builds trust and encourages new customers to buy.
- Lifestyle mockups:
Instead of only showing product photos on plain backgrounds, why not include images of people wearing the products in real-life settings? A quick shot of someone wearing the hoodie at a football game would instantly make it more relatable.
- Size guide:
Shopping online can make sizing tricky. Adding a simple size guide (either as a pop-up or just below the size options) will make customers feel more confident about choosing the right fit. You could even add a little tip like:
"Model is 6ft and wearing size L for a relaxed fit."
3/ Quick wins for conversion boost
- Simplify Navigation:
Make it easier for shoppers to find what they're looking for. Try highlighting quick-access categories like "New Arrivals," "Best Sellers," or "Limited Editions."
- Create urgency:
Little prompts like "Only a few left!" or "Limited Stock Available!" can gently encourage customers to buy sooner rather than later.
Bonus Tip: Boost customer retention with BON Loyalty
One last step—since you’re already generating a number of sales, it’s worth thinking about how to keep those customers coming back. A loyalty program is a fantastic way to build retention. I’d suggest checking out BON Loyalty, an solution that helps drive repeat purchases and referrals.
It’s super simple to integrate and can really elevate your customer experience. If you’d like to know more or need a hand setting it up, I’m here to help! 😊

I would be happy to review your website and provide feedback on the performance. Here are some suggestions to improve the performance of your website and increase sales:
1. Improve promotional banner and section on Homepage
You should add seasonal banners for current promotions to catch the attention of customers.
Additionally, featuring sections like “special offer” on the homepage, make discount labels and pricing information more noticeable, can drive attention to popular and discounted products, encouraging visitors to engage more with your site. Here is a reference:
2. Adding review section
Adding a dedicated review section would allow customers to share their experiences, providing valuable feedback for other potential buyers. Customer reviews not only build trust but also serve as social proof, which can significantly boost conversions. Here is a reference:
