Store Feedback With New Theme

We recently moved from an outdated free Shopify theme to a newer free theme. Since the conversion to the new theme both our traffic and sales are way down. We hired a Shopfiy partner to help with some customization, but we ended up having to go back and correct a lot of his work. We would love some feedback on the new design and any suggestions for driving more traffic & conversions.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Hello @GolfGearBox ,

I hope you are doing good and welcome to the Shopify Community!

I am Polo from MS Web Designer

Thank you for sharing your store URL. This allowed me to go through your site.

You have a beautiful website. I believe a few adjustments may be required to make it more professional and appealing to customers.

Here are some recommendations:

Header:

1. The Logo is not clearly visible, it should be more attractive and a little bigger
2. Favicon is missing
3. Header should be properly organized

Homepage

1. There should be some attractive and High quality banner images with CTA button
2. Extra blank spaces should not be present
3. Learn More button is not working

polo_msweb_0-1720867710964.png

Collection Page:

1. Add the "Add to cart button"
2. Add Product Review on Collection Pages

Product page:

The page is very long and Add to Cart button is very below. It should be placed up where

Cart Page:

1. A Dynamic Free Shipping bar should be present
2. Provide coupon codes to encourage the customers

I hope this helped!

Please feel free to contact us for any further help that you might require.

Best regards,

Polo

Hi Sure,

I hired a Shopify Partner to help with some of the bugs encountered when we switch themes, which was disaster.

I created a blog, write articles and promote them on my social media channels and in golf forums, where my customers spend time.

I do a quarterly newsletters introducing new products, highlighting older products and offer up discounts and sale items sent to my mailing list

I promote discounts on products on my social media feeds. I primarily use Twitter and Instagram for promotion since both channels have strong golf followings

I tried some paid search early on with Google, but saw now lift

I am inundated by solicitors telling me my site is not ranking and they can get Golf Gear Box on the first page. While I admit my knowledge of SEO is limited, I am well aware that any Keywords related to "Golf" are highly sought after and I could never, nor do I want to try, to compete with the behemoth golf companies and retailers.

Any suggestions welcomed.

Hi @GolfGearBox,

I'm Kate from PageFly - Shopify Advanced Page Builder App.

Generally, I love your store’s design, it looks classic but professional. From my CRO expertise, I’d love to give you my suggestions as hereby:

1. Homepage

  • Have a favicon for your store

Whether you're putting the final touches on your online store or it's already up and running, don't overlook the significance of adding a favicon! It's a small yet crucial detail that can enhance your website's appearance and reinforce your brand.

By including a favicon on your website, you can effectively communicate to your potential customers that they have arrived at your company's page.

You can check this Shopify guide on how to add a favicon - https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-store/images/add-favicon

  • Reposition the navigation buttons on the sticky header

It's great when you have a sticky header which makes it more convenient for your visitors to navigate around the site.

Another thing you might care about is:

- You can highlight the sale campaign by changing the color of the “Clearance” navigation button.

- There should be more spacing between the logo and the buttons so the logo would not become easily overlooked.

  • Have the hero section on top of the page

The banner is very significant in hero material. It is the first thing customers see when they visit your website so you need to get consumers to know exactly what you're having in 5 seconds first.

Unfortunately, you missed this section and placed the collection on top instead. Please recheck this part.

  • Avoid too much redundant white spacing

To solve this problem, you can adjust the number of collections per row.

Another problem in this section is that there is no link attached to the “Learn more” button. So you might want to take this into consideration.

  • Add more sections

- Product details: One of the best-sellers from your store should be showcased to catch more attention. Here is a demo for you:

PageFlyKate_6-1721011960741.png

- Benefit section: Adding a benefit section in the middle of the homepage will give your customers a reason to purchase from you instead of the competition. This helps reduce the bounce rate and increase the likelihood of purchase.

- About Us section: A business can stand out with its brand story as it provides more insight about your business and also helps your store look more attractive.

- Testimonial - customer reviews: This section will help you build customers' trust. You can show rating stars for each product or you can add customer reviews as text and photos.

2. Product page

  • Remove breadcrumbs on

When a customer lands on a product page, they’re curious about that SINGULAR product. So, our goal is to keep the customer on the page long enough to complete a purchase, not to redirect them to your other products.

PageFlyKate_7-1721011991133.png

The less distracting links on your product detail pages, the better.

  • Redesign the description of your product

As you can see, the line spacing in this section is very small, causing the text to be too close and hard to read.

If possible, you should place those texts into an accordion element to save more spacing

PageFlyKate_8-1721012013553.png

  • Add an ATC button

It’s very important to have an ATC button here as it’s almost the final step to get more sales.

PageFlyKate_9-1721012026143.png

To optimize your call-to-action (CTA) buttons for maximum effectiveness, it's crucial to use bright and striking colors that contrast well with your text. White and black are reliable choices for text visibility. Popular CTA button colors include blue, yellow, orange, and black, but the key is to select hues that align with your brand.

3. Additional Tips

  • Email Marketing: Build an email list and send regular newsletters with promotions, new arrivals, and engaging content.
  • Social Media: Increase your social media presence. Use platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest to showcase products and run targeted ads.
  • Google Ads: Invest in Google Ads for targeted traffic. Use both search and shopping ads to reach potential customers.
  • Influencer Marketing: Partner with golfing influencers to reach a broader audience. Their endorsements can drive traffic and build credibility.
  • Customer Reviews: Encourage satisfied customers to leave reviews. Display these prominently on product pages to build trust and social proof.

Remember, building a successful online store takes time and effort. Keep at it, keep learning, and don't be afraid to experiment and refine your approach. Good luck!

And that's my feedback! Hope it helps you boost the conversion rate.

Cheers!
