Hi Gary @Gary-1 Here are a few suggestions I have on how your store could be improved
1) You should add a section for best sellers on the homepage
2) There should be links to the social media accounts of the business at the bottom of the homepage
3) Customer reviews can serve as a sign of credibility on your homepage so it’s a good idea to have a few included even if they are from sales made not online.

Hi, thank you for the feedback, very much appreciated, I can’t really have a best seller page as I usually only have one of each item available and each is unique but I will look at making the “new stock” section more prominent instead. I hope to add facebook and instagram in the near future and will definitely add customer reviews, that hadn’t occurred to me. Thank you for taking the time to reply.
Hi @Gary-1,
We appreciate your inquiry in the Shopify Community. We are MooseDesk, a comprehensive Live Chat, FAQ & Helpdesk App designed to elevate your customer support experience.
Congrats on your new store! I can tell you have put a lot of effort into building this. Especially, there is a diverse range of antique items that shape your brand identity.
However, I have some comments to boost sales. Here are some of my recommendations for better customer engagement, please kindly check.
1.Optimize Hero Banner
With just a glance over the hero banner, I can decide whether to continue exploring a shop or not. At my first view of your website, the hero banner is not attractive enough. Therefore, I recommend that you optimize Hero Banner with the most captivating image of your products along with your tagline (benefits offered to your customers).
What’s most special about antique is sensation and feelings. Thus, try to invest more time to create a theme, a consistent color and text style to deliver the most exact vibe to your customers.
2. Showcase your Best seller products with discounts
I notice that you put all product categories and new products on Homepage, which could be saved for the Shop/All stocks page. Instead, Best sellers with some click incentives (discounts, number of sales, star ratings, etc) would intrigue customers to get to know your products and decide purchases better.
3. Complete Homepage layout & information
As a customer, I would say that your Homepage hasn't offered enough information for me to build trust then to purchase. Therefore, I suggest the addition of Value Proposition (to differentiate your business) - Testimonials (this is very crucial to build trust in customers) - final CTA button.
4. Complete your Product page
There is still a bit insufficient information about each product, so add more details like materials, age of the item, etc. Also, try creating a dedicated "Customer Experience" section below the product description, with clear spacing and a distinctive background or border color, as vintage is related a lot to customer experience.
5. Re-design your About us page
Customers often have to feel trust in the store owner to make the purchase of antique items (which carry the value of history, story and rarity). Therefore, it would be better to build your About us page more attractively with more details of your inspirations and your item origins.
6. Add Live chat widget
I can see that your website lacks a help widget and live chat feature to allow customers to contact you immediately. How about having a powerful live chat to assist potential customers instantly, addressing their questions or concerns in real time? This can help prevent abandonment and encourage purchases.
I suggest exploring MooseDesk, a FREE Live Chat, WhatsApp & FAQ App. You can easily reach customer support via WhatsApp, ensuring immediate assistance for inquiries. Also, the widget provide multi self-Service options such as Order tracking, Translation and FAQ section empower customers to resolve common questions on their own, reducing the need for direct support.
So those are some of my suggestions for your store as an UX expert. If this is helpful for you, please let me know by giving me a 'LIKE'. If your question is answered please mark this as 'SOLUTION’.
Once again, keep up the fantastic work, and I wish you the best of luck in the future!

Thank you MooseDesk for your in-depth and positive reply, very much appreciated. I’ll change the hero banner to show a small but varied collection of our stock and also add text. I take on board your welcome and valid points re the Home & About Us pages.
With regard to product info my only thoughts are that our aim is to sell mostly trade to trade, rather than trade to public. This may change of course but from the first the aim was always the trade market, we have experience of this and in the UK it is very common to sell only to trade and although sales to the public will of course be welcome (and I want the website to be as public friendly as possible), retail to the public isn’t the main goal, but as I say this may well change with experience.
With this in mind I didn’t worry too much about detailed descriptions as I expect our target market would have their own knowledge and recognition of the items for sale, saying that I will still add more info, it is certainly a bit thin on some products.
It is a very steep learning curve and I genuinely appreciate your comments and the links provided, thank you again for taking the time to do that. Kind regards, Gary.
Hi @Gary-1! I'm Tracy from BON Loyalty, the essential Shopify loyalty program app.
After reviewing your website, I believe these tweaks will help you increase customer trust and experience.
1. Add a favicon
Just simply update your logo as a favicon for your website.
2. Ensure collections have images of the same size or alternate them evenly for a more balanced and visually pleasing layout.
3. As others have said, customer reviews can significantly boost your customer trust. My advice is do not stop at the homepage, but also display the rating and reviews on the product page.
4. And add "Add to cart" button right below the product will make the buying journey much more seamless.
Good luck!
Cheers,
Tracy from BON Loyalty

Thank you Tracy, I had to google favicon and will now look at that! I think I made an error as I photographed the stock, some are landscape and some are upright, and yes I think in future they need to be one or the other. I should though be able to use existing different images to at least alternate them on the collections page for now. Add to Cart, I will look into how to do this.
Thank you again for taking the time to reply, genuinely appreciated. Best wishes, Gary.
