Good morning. My store, Fivestar Fynds (www.fivestarfynds.com), has been online for about two months now. My "collaborator" sent me an urgent message this morning telling me that there's a bug in my store that could potentially destroy everything that he's created and that he needs to write a new code on the back end for security... Has anybody heard of needing additional security for Shopify stores?
If someone could please review my store and let me know if you notice any potential bugs or if it appears that everything is working as designed.
Thank you in advance!

Hi @lukylady_65
Regarding your collaborator’s urgent message about a bug and back-end security code, it’s understandable to feel worried, but Shopify is already a highly secure platform with built-in protections like SSL encryption and PCI compliance, so “extra” back-end coding isn’t typically needed unless there’s a specific issue. I took a peek at fivestarfynds.com, and it loads smoothly, with no obvious bugs; products display well, and navigation seems solid. That said, if your collaborator customized your theme heavily, a coding error could be possible, so ask them to pinpoint the exact “bug” they’re seeing. For peace of mind, run a quick test yourself, add an item to the cart, check out, and see if anything feels off or use Shopify’s support to double-check your store’s health.

Hi there, I'm Kate from PageFly - Shopify Landing Page Builder.
I love your website, the design looks really informative & majestic. It's clear that you've put a lot of thought and effort into creating an online presence. From my Conversion Rate Optimization expertise, I would like to give you some suggestions regarding the store design to make the store more stunning and better convert.
General
1. Announcement bar: Making the announcement bar sticky will keep important messages visible. A well-designed announcement bar with countdown timer can highlight promotions and create urgency.
You can take this as a reference:
2. Loading speed on mobile: Optimize images and implement efficient coding practices to improve site loading times, reducing bounce rates and enhancing user experience.
Homepage
The hero banner in the homepage is an important touchpoint to impress your customers when they first land on the site. The current banner may cause visitors to confuse in the first 5 seconds what products you are offering. The key products should be highlighted.
You can take it as a reference:
The product description is made vague in the background, which cause bad experience for users when browsing products. You can set another color for the font to highlight the key information, making it easier to read.

It's important to highlight the key information like the price and call to action. Adding other styling like bold, italic, using different color and font size to the price and mouse over state for ATC button to make them more noticeable.

That’s all of my feedback. I hope it will enhance your website's look and help you grow sales. Feel free to reach me in the reply section if you need further discussions. Wish you luck and endurance on your entrepreneurship journey!

Hi @lukylady_65
Thanks for reaching out to the Shopify Community! I'm Donna from MooseDesk , your go-to Live Chat, WhatsApp and FAQ App.
I hope you have found a solution to the bug issue in your store. I happened to come across your post and wanted to share some thoughts on your store UX as a UX enthusiast. Hopefully my recommendations can provide some better customer experience advices, please kindly check
Using clear, high-resolution images with zoom capabilities allows users to examine products closely. The white text is overlaying a blurred background, making it hard to read. You might consider adjusting the text effect to ensure your message is more visible and clear to customers.
2. Idea: Make gifting easy
When we visualize the clothes shopper, we often think of a person shopping for themselves. However, clothes products are among the most gifted products – it only makes sense to cater to them as well.
Here's what you can consider for shoppers looking for clothes products as gifts:
Quick Tip: Consider creating gift guide type posts/blogs before key holiday periods – repurpose through partner creators, YouTube, or relevant channels (for max reach). Make sure each post/guide leads directly to your gift category pages.
3. Add a Live chat Support
I can see that your website lacks a help widget and live chat feature to allow customers to contact you immediately. How about having a powerful live chat to assist potential customers instantly, addressing their questions or concerns in real time? This can help prevent abandonment and encourage purchases.
I suggest exploring MooseDesk, a FREE Live Chat, WhatsApp & FAQ App. You can easily reach customer support via WhatsApp, ensuring immediate assistance for inquiries. Also, the widget provides multi self-Service options such as Order tracking, Translation and FAQ section empower customers to resolve common questions on their own, reducing the need for direct support.
Currently, your FAQ page is quite simple. You might consider adding a search bar so customers can easily find the answers they need, as well as a contact form at the bottom for immediate inquiries.
It looks like you only have a section for Contact Us, but not a full FAQ page where customers can find common questions.
You might consider adding a FAQ page and a search bar so customers can easily find the answers they need, as well as a contact form at the bottom for immediate inquiries. You can refer to FAQ template in FAQ Builder of Moose: https://moosedesk-demo-store.myshopify.com/pages/demo-faq
These are essential for helping customers quickly find answers or reach out for support, which can significantly enhance their shopping experience.

Hi @lukylady_65! I'm Tracy from BON Loyalty, the essential Shopify loyalty program app.
I understand that your collaborator's urgent message about a potential bug requiring backend code adjustments is concerning, I have not found any issues or bugs that actually affected my experience when I experienced as a customer on your store. In the meantime, I also noted down some rooms for improvement with your store's UI, which can improve your customers' shopping experience significantly:
1/ Overall feedback
- For your homepage, it is clear that you have designed it to give customers an overview of the products being sold in your store. The positive aspect is that customers can grasp information about your brand, and product images are fully provided.
However, on the downside, bombarding visitors with too much information makes the homepage feel quite heavy. It also does not clearly showcase your brand's identity or the unique aspects of your business. For example, your store sells fashion and jewelry, but your taglines and CTAs are quite generic and do not effectively highlight this: https://prnt.sc/O9bdovX-tIz1
- In addition, the currency selection dropdown is comprehensive but could be more user-friendly by displaying the most relevant currencies based on the user's location.
2/ Product images
- For product images, it is clear that you have provided complete visuals for all the products in your store. However, you need to ensure consistency across the images in terms of size, quality, and format. Currently, since the images are not uniform in size, the overall look appears somewhat messy and unprofessional, as seen in the section below: https://prnt.sc/EtJgZBXrntnC
- Additionally, the overlay when hovering over a product has overlapping text colors, making it very difficult to read.
- The proportion of this banner is too large compared to the website, causing the image to be stretched, which affects both the image quality and the overall look of your website: https://prnt.sc/QfKdterYykX
3/ Website performance improvement
While you should constantly update the website design to make it more appealing, it is essential to keep track of metrics that reflect your website performance. Here, I suggest you can take a look at your Website Loading Speed and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS). These metrics are crucial for user experience and search engine rankings. I recommend you consider tools like Google's PageSpeed Insights can analyze these numbers.
With your collaborator, since this person has skills with coding, here are some tips to make your website work more efficiently:
- Remove unnecessary characters from HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files to decrease their size, improving load speed.
- Implement Lazy Loading: Load images and videos only when they appear in the viewport, reducing initial load times.
- Use a Content Delivery Network (CDN): Distribute content across multiple servers worldwide to ensure faster delivery based on user location.
I hope these tips are helpful in making your already awesome website even better! Good luck!
Cheers,
Tracy
