Hello Shopify Community,

We launched our Shopify store almost 2 months ago, but we’re struggling to get traffic or sales. We’ve worked on SEO, uploaded high-quality images, and even ran ads on Instagram and Facebook, but nothing seems to be working.

We’d really appreciate any feedback on our store to help us improve!

Here’s the link: https://laftpet.com.au

Thanks so much for your help!

Hi @Jqs_ ,

I am from Mageplaza - Shopify solution expert.

I would be happy to review your website and provide feedback on the performance. Here are my recommendations to improve your conversion rate:

I don’t see your ads so I can’t make detailed recommendations on your landing page. But here are some recommendations from “Databox”. You can check more in this article

“When CTR is high but the conversion rate is low that indicates a problem with the landing page, which is most commonly due to a lack of effective calls-to-action (CTA) on the page. The solution is to create a clear CTA like a “Buy Now” or “Read More” button. The CTA can be a clickable image overlaid with a small amount of text or a simple button.” Additionally, here are my recommendations to improve UX/UI of the website:

1. Improve promotional banner and section on Homepage

mageplazacs_0-1734604292551.png

You should add seasonal banners for current promotions or collections (e.g., Summer Sale, Winter Collection) to catch the attention of customers.

Additionally, featuring sections like "Best Sellers" and "On Sale", New arrivals on the homepage can drive attention to popular and discounted products, encouraging visitors to engage more with your site. Here is a reference:

2. Adding review section

Adding a dedicated review section would allow customers to share their experiences, providing valuable feedback for other potential buyers. Customer reviews not only build trust but also serve as social proof, which can significantly boost conversions. Here is a reference:

I hope my suggestions are helpful, feel free to give me any feedback. Good luck!

Hello there @Jqs_  I’ve had a look at the store and I can easily tell that you have spent some time and money on the store design as well as the quality images so well done on that. In addition to the high quality images, you could maybe consider adding a few videos as well in the product gallery that could maybe help propel customers even further when they visit.

You should have a section for customer reviews on the homepage even if they are just one or two as this could be the difference between another customer deciding to trust your store or not.

You should have a FAQ page which you can use as an avenue to share even more information about your tasty products and what sets you apart from the rest.

I wish you and your store the best of luck!

Emmanuel

Hi, I’m Wayne from Akohub. We have been working with many brands to run online stores. I have viewed your website and hope our expertise can help you.

Your store design is fantastic, and the quality of the images is pretty nice. The design is clean and inviting, and the high-quality images showcase your products beautifully. For improvement you can consider adding CTA buttons next to each image, this can encourage visitors to explore more about your website and potentially lead to higher conversion rates.

To enhance your marketing efforts, I will recommend implementing retargeting strategies. Compared with just launching regular paid ads, social media retargeting ads are particularly effective as they allow you to serve tailored ads to users who have previously interacted with your brand whether by visiting your website, clicking on an ad, or engaging with your content. This approach keeps your products top-of-mind for potential customers who may have shown interest but did not complete a purchase. For instance, by using a tracking pixel from platforms like Facebook or Instagram, you can gather data on user interactions and create personalized ads that remind them of the specific products they viewed or added to their cart. This strategy not only helps reduce cart abandonment but also encourages repeat purchases by reminding past customers of new arrivals or special offers relevant to their interests.

In addition to social media retargeting, consider leveraging Klaviyo for your email marketing campaigns. Klaviyo enables you to create highly personalized emails based on user behavior, such as abandoned cart reminders or product recommendations tailored to past purchases. This level of personalization can significantly increase engagement and drive conversions as it speaks directly to the individual’s shopping habits and preferences.

The help you launch retargeting campaigns more easily, I would recommend our Ako Marketing app, which can streamline your retargeting efforts. Our app offers functionalities that sync with Klaviyo, allowing you to manage both retargeting ads and email campaigns from a single platform. This will help you efficiently reach out to potential customers who have interacted with your site, enhancing customer experience and maximizing the effectiveness of your marketing strategies by keeping potential buyers engaged at multiple touchpoints.

Overall Score: 8.25

Color: 8
Review: The color scheme of this website is mainly purple, with some neutral tones, and the overall style is unified and modern. Purple as the main color conveys a sense of nobility and nature, which is very suitable for the brand image of pet products.

Suggest: Consider adding some softer colors such as light gray or light pink to some parts to increase the visual hierarchy and comfort. In addition, ensure that there is enough contrast between the text and the background to improve readability.

Layout: 8.5
Review: The layout of the website is clear and the information is clearly layered. Each product category has an independent display area, which allows users to easily browse and find the information they need. The combination of pictures and text is reasonable and the visual effect is good.

Suggest: The design of the navigation bar can be further optimized to make it more intuitive and easy to use. In addition, consider responsive design on mobile devices to ensure a good user experience on different devices.

Hi @Jqs_ ,

Congrats on your new brand. Must've been lots of effort to put it all together. The website looks good for a basic, non-custom theme. There are great visuals and rich content. But I can see why Laft is struggling with sales. And it's possible to make it work. You just need a little more effort on the website and perhaps make some changes on the brand strategies and I'm sure Laft can succeed.

I'd first suggest to clearly set your brand values and mission. I looked at "story" page and it comes down to "we started talking to pet owners and discovered that many of them shared the same needs." It's not communicated what are these needs, and what Laft solves. There are many brands selling dog treats. The focus seems to being a "gift box" but it ultimately comes down to what's inside and you may consider shifting focus to natural, native, quality ingredients and health benefits they bring. Surely they're mentioned in the website, but can be communicated with a much more clear value proposition. That way, high pricing can be justified. I'll share some suggestions on design:

1) Header:

ErayBarslan_0-1735572958365.png

  • You have just 2+1 products and it'll come in handy if you show them directly in the menu, no need the extra step to see the products.
  • I see you intend to provide blogs / news on Laftstyle, but I'd suggest removing it for now. It's incomplete and may look unprofessional.
  • The cart icon, can be changed to represent the Laft's bag. Small changes like these adds up to the overall uniqueness.

2) Banner:

  • The banner can be used to clearly communicate your values and enhance the design to look more professional. I'll share some inspirations:ErayBarslan_3-1735573750827.png ErayBarslan_1-1735573522399.pngErayBarslan_2-1735573658328.jpeg ErayBarslan_7-1735573915866.png
  • These banners have appealing visuals customized for their brand and clearly communicate what sets them apart, intriguing to learn more.

  • I see you're primarily selling to AU, you may consider something like in 3rd example ("purely made in cornwall").

  • And as you're selling 2 products, you may complement buttons with product images directly on the banner:
    ErayBarslan_8-1735574462602.jpegErayBarslan_9-1735574500276.jpeg
  • Since one of your brand value is to "bring you and your pet closer", inspirations in that regard:
    ErayBarslan_11-1735574670638.png ErayBarslan_12-1735574724787.png
  • Customers judge a website in first few seconds of what they see, so you should definitely rework on the banner.

3) Content:

  • The content on the homepage should be concise and easy to digest, communicating key values. Currently there are too much text and visitors need to scroll a lot to reach to a CTA button. Majority of visitors won't read them and lose interest. Think of what you want visitors to feel / think, and give relevant information in a concise manner.
  • You have provided a trust badge section. But it can be improved by providing the real value dogs receive. Example:
    ErayBarslan_13-1735575573705.png
  • You already provided the benefits in a detailed way with "supports muscle growth and repair" and alike. But it's down on the product page and may be overlooked. Highlight them on homepage, backed with visuals / icons. It'll be much more effective than talking about the stylish package. Let the style speak itself, and focus on the real benefits.

4) Collection & Products:

  • You have 2+1 products and may not need to direct visitors to collection page with CTA. Have them accessible on menu and highlight products directly. Currently:
    ErayBarslan_14-1735576042796.png
  • This page isn't optimized for 2+1 products. You don't need filter and sort. Layout can be optimized for 2 products, and add gift card below the products with a slightly different layout.
  • You can approach to product page with similar mindset. There is great content, but the way it's presented can be personalized to provide a unique experience to visitors. But it should also be functional to help visitors. Can be as simple as providing an estimated delivery based on customers' location. Customers, especially lately value transparency, and such feature will be perceived as professional.

Additional Suggestions:

  • You may explore options to reduce the costs - but without sacrificing the quality of the treats themselves. Perhaps packaging can be redesigned. Or provide an alternative version with smaller package. You may also offer a subscription delivery, for the sufficient amount to keep dogs' health at maximum and test marketing angles accordingly, highlighting "a lifetime health"
  • The package looks elegant, but visuals can be added while keeping the premium feel. Example:
    ErayBarslan_15-1735577515359.jpeg
  • Given that you've reworked on the website, you can collaborate with dog owner influencers in AU. Target small / medium influencers for start and offer collaborations without needing to pay upfront (you'd still need to send the product). It may not only help with traffic, but also help with visual / video content and organic exposure of the brand, ultimately help building a community around Laft. If you trust in your products' qualities, this marketing approach can definitely work.
  • Loyalty & Reward program can also help with building a community. Customers can use these points to send gift cards (or use as discount).

I hope these suggestions will help Laft succeed. Good luck on your journey and happy new year! Feel free to reach out to me if you need any further assistance.
