Feedback for your online store from the community
I launched my Shopify store last month selling Grills to a region that doesn't have much competition. And yet despite Google Ad campaigns that got thousands of visitors, I haven't sold once! I also just setup Google Analytics, so I know that will tell me some things, but at the end of the day I feel like something is wrong with the visitors experience throughout their journey. So I would be eternally grateful if you can leave any feedback whatsoever! All feedback is useful, negative/positive, etc.

I also made a fill out form you can use, but if you prefer to just leave a comment here, that's perfectly fine.

Thanks so much!!!
shopify is a scam. they are probably selling and redirecting your traffic.
Wow I never thought of that, is this a common problem with shopify stores? But isn't it a very popular ecommerce platform?

Hi @Cookout,
I'm Tracy from BON Loyalty, the top-rated Shopify loyalty app.
It sounds like you’ve put in a lot of effort with your Shopify store and campaigns—it's great that you’re being proactive and seeking feedback. I understand that you are encountering difficulties to get your first sale. After taking a look at your website, I think that it looks quite professional and have good UI/UX. In this case, I'd suggest you to invest more in using marketing tracking tools, to understand your customer behaviors and their journey when they visit your store. Here are lists of tools you can use, and the reason why I recommend them:
1. Hotjar
Features:
- Heatmaps: Show where users are clicking, scrolling, and spending time. This helps determine whether key elements (e.g., CTAs, product descriptions) are being seen and interacted with.
- Session Recordings: Replay individual sessions to see exactly how users navigate the site. You can spot any UX issues or confusion.
- Surveys and Feedback: Use exit-intent popups or post-purchase surveys to ask visitors why they didn’t make a purchase or what prevented them from completing the checkout process.
Benefits: Understand user behavior visually and identify specific usability issues that can be resolved to improve the customer experience.
2. Google Tag Manager (GTM)
Features:
- Use GTM to implement tracking tags without needing to modify the site’s codebase. It integrates easily with Google Analytics and other third-party tools.
- Track button clicks, form submissions, outbound links, and more.
- Integrate with other platforms like Facebook Pixel or LinkedIn Insight Tag.
Benefits: GTM makes it easy to deploy and manage tags, track custom events, and experiment with different tracking configurations.
3. Crazy Egg
Features:
- Scroll Maps: Show how far users scroll down the page, indicating whether they’re seeing your CTA or critical content.
- A/B Testing: You can create and test different versions of a page to see which performs better.
Benefits: Perfect for optimizing landing pages and understanding content performance.
With the combination of these tools, you can set up some strategies to optimize your store performance, such as:
- Combine Google Analytics with Hotjar: Use Google Analytics to get quantitative data (e.g., bounce rate, average session duration, cart abandonment rate), and use Hotjar for qualitative insights like session recordings and heatmaps.
- Set Up Conversion Funnels and Goals in Google Analytics: Define key steps in the customer journey (e.g., homepage -> product page -> add-to-cart -> checkout) and monitor where the majority of drop-offs occur.
- Implement A/B Testing with Crazy Egg or Google Optimize: Test different variations of product pages, CTAs, and checkout pages to see which changes lead to better conversions.
These tools combined should provide a comprehensive understanding of customer behavior, helping identify and resolve issues that are preventing conversions. Good luck!
Best,
Tracy from the BON Loyalty team

Hi @Cookout,
Thanks for reaching out to the community. We are MooseDesk, a comprehensive Live Chat, FAQ & Helpdesk App designed to elevate your customer support experience.
Congrats on your new store! Your store looks stunning. I can tell you have put a lot of effort into building this. However, I have some comments to make the good get even better. Here are some of my recommendations for better customer experience, please kindly check.
1. Revamp the Hero Banner:
The first image on your site should clearly show what you’re selling and highlight the unique selling points of your products. Use a high-quality image paired with an engaging description to capture attention and encourage customers to stay longer on your site.
This banner should be the first thing visitors see, followed by a promotion banner. Additionally, consider adding a button that allows customers to manually view all banners instead of relying on automatic scrolling.
2. Add a Product Collection Section:
Including a section that showcases your product lines will give customers a clear overview of what your store offers. This helps them navigate your site and find the products they’re interested in more efficiently.
3. Introduce an About Us Section:
Adding an "About Us" section to your homepage can build an emotional connection with your customers. By sharing your story and mission, you build trust, making visitors more likely to purchase from you. Include a CTA button that directs them to a detailed About Us page to further engage them.
4. Highlight Promotions in a Dedicated Section:
Consider adding a section on your homepage specifically for promotions. This ensures that customers don’t miss out on deals, which can encourage them to take advantage of the offers you provide.
5. Enhance the Newsletter Sign-Up:
In your newsletter section, encourage customers to enter their email addresses by offering an incentive, such as a discount. Changing the heading to something like "Sign up and get 10% off" can increase sign-ups and boost engagement, leading to more conversions.
6. Improve Product Descriptions:
Your product descriptions should include specific details about the product specifications, rather than just general overviews. This helps customers make informed decisions faster, which can lead to more purchases.
7. Add a FAQ Page and Communication Widget:
These additions will allow customers to get their questions answered quickly and offer a way for real-time communication, which can significantly improve the overall customer experience.

Hi @Cookout,
I'm from Mageplaza, a Shopify solution expert.
I would be glad to review your website and provide feedback on improving its performance. Below are some suggestions to improve your conversion rate:
1. Optimizing the Landing Page
Your website is not converting visitors into customers as efficiently as it should, despite your advertising efforts. While I haven't reviewed your ads specifically, here are some general tips inspired by Databox (their full article has more details). A high click-through rate (CTR) paired with a low conversion rate often points to an issue with the landing page, particularly with weak or unclear calls-to-action (CTAs). You may want to try more direct CTAs like "Buy Now" or "Learn More," which could be presented as a clickable image or a simple button with a brief description.
2. Reducing Cart Abandonment
A high cart abandonment rate suggests that many potential customers are not completing their purchases, which affects your conversion rates. To tackle this issue, consider:
3. Enhancing the Search Bar
Improving your search bar functionality by displaying larger images, showing pricing and discounts, and incorporating collection and category search options can help customers quickly locate products, boosting their shopping experience. Here is a useful reference:
4. Provide more product information
The lack of product information might be an issue for the conversion as it will cause the hesitation to purchase. Make sure to provide customers as much information as possible. See differences between yours and a reference:
