Hi @Erin33!  I'm Tracy from BON Loyalty, the top-rated Shopify loyalty app.

I must say that your website looks impressive to me: The design, layout, navigation, etc. Everything works perfect. However, I understand that the gap between initial leads to actual sales is hard to narrow, so here are some feedback to help you improve your conversion rate:

1/ Limited Product Range: The website currently offers only one item—the 16 Points Terry Jacket—which may not meet customers' specific needs or preferences. You may want to consider separate each variant of this to product to a single product: For example: 16 Points Terry Jacket (Off-white), 16 Points Terry Jacket (Blue).

2/ Encourage customer to leave a review: I can see that you put a lot of effort into this product, also, the story behind is quite meaningful. However, the site doesn't feature many customer feedback or testimonials, making it challenging to assess product quality and customer satisfaction. I suggest you consider setting up a loyalty program, and reward points to customer everytime they leave a review for their orders.

3/ Minimal Company Information: The "About Us" section provides limited insight into the company's background, mission, or values, which might affect trust and confidence in the brand.

4/ Potential Security Concerns: The website lacks clear indicators of security measures, such as SSL certificates or trust badges, which are essential for protecting your personal and payment information.

Beside, there are some actions you can take to improve the current situation:
1. Optimize Your Product Page
- Highlight Unique Selling Points (USPs): Clearly emphasize what makes your product special, such as superior materials, innovative design, or problem-solving capabilities.
- Professional Visuals: Use high-quality photos from multiple angles, videos showcasing the product in action, and a 360-degree view if possible.
- Detailed Descriptions: Include specifics about size, materials, benefits, and usage to address customer queries upfront.
2. Create a Strong Value Proposition
- Focus your marketing on how your product solves a problem or meets a specific need.
- Showcase exclusivity if applicable, e.g., "Limited Edition" or "Premium Craftsmanship."
3. Add Social Proof
- Encourage early customers to leave reviews and share testimonials.
- Display ratings prominently on your product page.
- Use user-generated content, such as photos or videos from real customers, to build trust.
4. Incentivize First-Time Buyers
- Offer limited-time discounts, free shipping, or a gift with purchase for new customers.
- Highlight a risk-free return policy to lower hesitation.

By diving deep into these analytics and behavior tools, you’ll be able to identify and resolve key issues, optimize your traffic sources, and make meaningful changes to your store. I hope that my suggestion is helpful for you. Good luck!

Hi, I’m Wayne from Akohub. We have been working with many brands to run online stores. I have viewed your website and hope our expertise can help you.

Your website has a lovely aesthetic that beautifully showcases your brand's unique offerings. The clean layout and vibrant imagery create an inviting atmosphere for visitors, making it easy to navigate through your products. It's clear that you've put thought into the design, which is essential for engaging potential customers. However, I understand that despite having traffic, converting those visits into sales can be challenging.

One effective strategy to consider is implementing retargeting campaigns. These campaigns focus on reaching out to visitors who have previously engaged with your site but did not make a purchase. Retargeting is particularly effective because it allows you to remind these potential customers of the products they showed interest in, thereby reigniting their desire to buy. By serving personalized ads that highlight the specific items they viewed or added to their cart, you can effectively encourage them to return and complete their purchase.

To facilitate the process of launching retargeting campaigns, I recommend using our Ako Marketing app. It not only simplifies the setup of retargeting ads but also provides features that help you create a loyalty program for your customers. The combination of retargeting and a loyalty program can significantly enhance customer retention and drive sales. By leveraging these strategies, you can transform your website traffic into loyal customers who are excited about your products. Keep refining your approach based on customer feedback and behavior, and you'll likely see an improvement in your conversion rates over time.

Best wishes! If you have any more questions or need a free professional consultation, feel free to let us know! Don't forget to like and mark it as a solution if you find this helpful.

Hi, @Erin33 ,

Your product looks stylish and comfortable with a clear target audience. Pocket, made for phones is a great plus. Something many design lacks. I highly believe there are people would buy this for their occasion. But why the traffic won't convert?

First thing to examine is, if the traffic's mainly from your target audience. But even if you reach your audience, I do not think the website is ready for conversion. Surely, it looks alright, with good imagery and unique selling points mentioned. But you have a luxury product, made for guys who wouldn't mind spending extra for their comfort and style at beach / pool etc. The website design, should also reflect the feel of the product, which can be improved on certain areas. Let me go over some suggestions to improve design and user journey.

Header & Banner & Announce(discounts):

  • First impressions matter a lot. You have good banner imagery, but can certainly be improved. When I first landed, I was unsure of what the brand sells for first ~5 seconds, until 2nd banner jumps in. The banner header "GINGER SESAME" is redundant, enough to highlight brand name with logo. The buttons are too long which adds confusion to design. Also there is no visual hierarchy among text-button-image, especially considering the low contrast. I've done a quick redesign with a dark layer for white text:
    ErayBarslan_1-1737023354420.png

    This version functions better at addressing the points mentioned above, and looks more professional. It's important to guide visitors without them having to think or struggle, while providing an eye pleasing experience, reflecting your brand. If you still wish to include your brand name on the banner, a smaller / non attention grabbing but easy to see "made by ginger sesame" below buttons could work.

  • The image on mobile version is with low quality, and text contrast is even worse than desktop. Also the text-button shouldn't be placed to cover the product. Mobile banner needs attention, more than the desktop.
  • Also I've noticed that, the banner has 100% height, though it ends up being more than 100%, adding the menu-announce heights. So 100% height doesn't serve the purpose. To enhance the banner design further, you could see versions with transparent header on load (usually works well for fashion brands), but with contrast background to texts.
  • You can move the announce bar to below banner, or even completely remove it. Not sure about providing discount code, could be better if visitors see discounted price $89 instead of $98 on product. Providing code don't help with collection email anyways. Many would miss out the deal as soon as they scroll anyways, visitors do not usually read announce as they want to see the product.
  • If you wish to run some discount campaigns, I'd suggest exploring "off-season discount, get your jacket before it's hot!". I believe, natural discounts like these, are more effective than regular 10% on first order, as it's really off-season for your niche which is a valid discount, perhaps provide with timer ~1.5 month left | sign up to be notified before it's over! - which would be the way to collect those emails for further marketing.

Value Proposition:

  • Firstly, I don't think you need below section at all:
    ErayBarslan_2-1737025364276.png

    Right below, there is already a feature section that's backed with visuals, so you won't need this full text description. However, few of these points can be included in the banner with icons, below where buttons are. | 100% natural cotton | quick-dry | phone pockets (patent) | soft on skin | etc.

  • I do not think "our reviews" pop-up is necessary, not good design wise that's for certain, see how it overlaps with content on mobile. Providing a testimonial section would be sufficient / and could be more effective.
  • The "Features" section could use some rework too. First of all, you don't need "buy now" below each feature, CTA should be included, but overuse may overwhelm visitors. Especially when they're redundant. A button below the feature section (not each) would do it. Also I'd advise not providing features with slider. Most visitors won't see past 4 features on desktop and 1 feature on mobile. If you're concerned on this section taking too much height without a slider, or you wish some interactivity; I'd suggest exploring more intuitive design directions for this section. Both functional and aesthetic look of the section can improved.
  • Not much to say about other sections, but it's possible to enhance the overall look, in the direction of above sections/suggestions.

Product Page:

  • The overall look of the page is fine, the swatches, buttons etc. look good. However there are issues for image section on both desktop and mobile.
  • On desktop, I'm having to scroll past all the text content on right, to see other images; and when clicked on a thumbnail, having to scroll top to see the changed image. My suggestion for desktop thumbnails would be:
    ErayBarslan_3-1737026743384.png
  • On mobile, something seems to be gone wrong with the swiper app. ~9 images are supposed to be shown, but all 34 are in the thumbnail in a weird layout. Definitely needs a fix. My suggestion for mobile thumbnails would be:
    ErayBarslan_0-1737027296767.png
    Thumbnails where visitors can get a feel of the images. I'd suggest looking for a custom solution for slider, as the app doesn't work supposed to and I see it a bit much to use app just for this. (So many apps, will end up slowing the site)
  • The description / information section is fine, but I'd suggest exploring "horizontal accordion menu" instead of vertical. It's easier to provide more information with this, and adds a bit of professionalism. Example:
    ErayBarslan_1-1737027799869.png

    A layout I'd suggest would be | DETAILS | SIZE | SHIPPING | REVIEWS | . Current positioning of reviews are a bit out of place, repositioning will definitely help.

  • There is shipping information, but from where and how long are not answered. When I can't find such information on the product page, I immediately check policies; which is missing on your site. It's a huge minus, site should have policies included as soon as possible.
  • Back to shipping, instead of visitors guessing when it would arrive, a dynamic estimated delivery based on location such as: "3-4 days delivery to Chicago, from NJ" , would add a live feel to site and providing where it ships from as well as an estimated date; which can add up to overall design too.

More can be touched to refine the general design. I believe addressing above suggestions would be enough to make those initial sales. The idea is to provide an eye pleasing and functional visual experience. The website basically should give that luxury feel with seamless navigation from first land to entire journey, as your product offers luxury, style and comfort.

Additional Suggestions:

  • This is a product I would consider buying, but there is a draw back for me. I don't wear anything that has brand badge on it, not on shoes either. Others may not care about it as much as I do, but there'll be some potential customers concerned about this for sure, especially considering the logo is highly visible & grabs attention. When my friends like something on me, they ask the brand name anyways.
  • Phone pocket is a great idea, a concern I usually have when buying apparels. I could feel much safer if the pocket comes with "zip" as an option. But would prefer the zip be not visible from outside, for design aesthetics. More to it, if this comes with a waterproof pocket, I'd be much more free on beach / pool / bar / cruise etc. where I may get water on me any time and in my fun mood. But it would add more costs, so providing these extra features with add-on +$19 etc. could be better, without changing the base product price.
  • There is a short video showing the products in close range, which is great to show the quality. However, a video can be worked on, precisely pointing what makes you unique. This is one of your copy: "Wear your terry jacket, while enjoying time near water and lounging in the sun - then easily transition to lunch or a bar for happy hour with function and style." A short video story can be made around this. - "A guy gets out of the sea, wears the jacket, put the phone to safety and dry himself on the walk, then attend to the bar party next to beach with a style". It came off the top of my head, so it would definitely need more thought. But such marketing approach could be much more effective.

I hope these suggestions will help Ginger Sesame succeed. Good luck on your journey! Feel free to reach out if you need any further assistance.

Cheers,
Eray

Hello there @Erin33  You are in a very niche fashion field so I believe it would be very helpful for you to have a FAQs section on the homepage which can be used as an avenue to share some nice info about your store and its products

At the bottom of the homepage, you should display the accepted methods of payment for customers on your store.

Hi @Erin33

Having traffic without conversions can be frustrating, but it’s often a sign that there’s room for improvement in your website’s user experience, product offerings, or marketing funnel. Here are some actionable suggestions to help turn those visitors into paying customers:

1. Review Your Product Pages

  • Clear Value Proposition: Make sure it’s immediately obvious why your products are unique. Use bold headlines, short descriptions, and highlight benefits, not just features.
  • High-Quality Images: Visitors often decide with their eyes. Ensure your product photos are clear, well-lit, and show multiple angles.
  • Customer Reviews: If possible, showcase testimonials or reviews from previous customers to build trust.

2. Improve Your Call-to-Actions (CTAs)

  • Your CTAs (e.g., "Buy Now," "Add to Cart") should stand out visually and be action-oriented. Test different wording like “Try GingerSesame Today” to add personality.
  • Place CTAs above the fold so users don’t have to scroll.

3. Simplify the Checkout Process

  • Reduce friction in the buying process. Avoid requiring users to create an account to purchase.
  • Offer multiple payment options like credit cards, PayPal, and others based on your audience.

4. Analyze Your Traffic Sources

  • Are the right people visiting your site? If your traffic comes from unrelated keywords or ads targeting the wrong audience, those visitors are unlikely to buy.
  • Use tools like Google Analytics to see where traffic is coming from and which sources convert best.

5. Boost Trust and Credibility

  • Add Trust Badges: Show certifications (e.g., “Secure Checkout”) near your CTAs.
  • Easy Returns Policy: Highlight hassle-free returns and refunds to reduce buyer hesitation.
  • Live Chat: Add live chat or a chatbot to answer questions instantly.

6. Retarget Visitors

  • If people visit but don’t buy, retarget them with Facebook Ads or Google Ads showing the products they viewed. Offer a discount or incentive to bring them back.

7. Test Your Site’s Speed and Mobile Optimization

  • A slow website or poor mobile experience will drive visitors away. Use tools like PageSpeed Insights or GTmetrix to identify and fix speed issues.

8. Run A/B Tests

  • Experiment with changes like button colors, headlines, or pricing formats. Use tools like Google Optimize to test which variations convert better.

9. Offer a First-Time Incentive

  • A popup offering a discount for new customers (e.g., “10% off your first purchase”) can encourage hesitant visitors to take the plunge.

10. Collect Feedback

  • Use a post-exit survey or a quick poll (e.g., “Why didn’t you complete your purchase today?”) to understand pain points.

Example Checkout Improvement Code Snippet

Here’s a simple popup code you could implement to encourage conversions:

<div id="popup">

  <p>Get 10% off your first order! Use code <strong>WELCOME10</strong> at checkout.</p>

  <button onclick="closePopup()">Shop Now</button>

</div>

<script>

  function closePopup() {

    document.getElementById("popup").style.display = "none";

  }

</script>

Your website already gets traffic, so you’re halfway there. Focus on understanding your audience’s needs, reducing friction in their shopping journey, and testing strategies to see what works best.

If you need any other assistance, feel free to reply, and I will try my best to help.
Best regards,
Daisy

Hey there,

It sounds like you’re facing the classic challenge of high traffic but low conversions.

E-commerce success depends on three key layers working together: your store's quality, traffic quality, and an effective sales process. When you have traffic but few sales at GingerSesame.com, you need to examine each layer systematically.

First, evaluate your store's technical foundation. Ensure your site works perfectly on mobile devices, tells a compelling brand story, and provides transparent information about shipping, returns, and product specifications. Customers need to understand what makes your products unique and why they should buy from you instead of competitors.

Second, assess your traffic quality. High bounce rates indicate visitors may not match your target audience. If using Meta ads, consider limiting placements to Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger rather than the broader Audience Network, which often generates low-quality traffic. For Google ads, ensure your keywords and product feeds attract genuinely interested visitors.

Third, implement effective onsite marketing strategies. The typical customer journey spans multiple visits before conversion, so create micro-conversion opportunities that gradually guide visitors toward purchase. Replace standard discount popups with personalized welcome experiences that communicate brand values while collecting contact information.

Finally, if your store fundamentals and traffic targeting are sound, creating urgency can significantly boost conversions. Growth Suite provides an effective solution for this challenge by offering personalized, time-limited discount offers that automatically apply to customer carts. The platform also enhances the shopping experience by recognizing returning visitors and displaying previously viewed products, reducing friction in the purchase journey.
