Feedback for your online store from the community
My store is very slow (got a score of 23 on shopify) and takes too long to load the page. How can I fix this?
Store: pupcounty.com
Hello there @Jea
I understand how it feels to have your website too slow to load for your visitors. This might have led to you losing revenues and return on investment.
Here are possible reasons that your store loads slowly:
1. Too much of products
2. Third party codes
3. Website images too heavy to load.
4. Too much of Shopify apps
There are factors you can not control such as Your customer's device, network, and location:
Customers who visit your store live around the world and have different devices and internet connections. This means that your store might load faster or slower for them depending on these factors.
If a customer contacts you about the speed of your store, then ask your customer to check that they're on the latest version of their browser, they have recently cleared their cache, and their Internet service provider is not experiencing any outages or degraded performance.
I hope this helps.
Best regards
damimond.
Hi @Jea
It's PageFly - Best Page Builder App here and I'd like to share some of my initial thoughts when first browsing through your online store. I hope that my recommendations based on 6 years of providing solutions for more than 100.000 merchants can be beneficial to you in improving your store performance.
I have tried a several tools to check the page weight of Home page and the product page https://pupcounty.com/collections/harnesses/products/tactical-no-pull-dog-harness-vest and the major issue lies in oversized images. High quality images are really good to show the store's authenticity and professionalism but they can weigh your page down.
The home page has 2 oversized images:
- The logo https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0597/3920/9914/files/LOGO_BLACK_web.png?v=1631727597 (6532 x 982 px) while on my 13-inch laptop, it only shows as
=> I suggest you to reduce the logo size at least 5 times
- This one is too big as well: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0597/3920/9914/files/pupcounty_hero_copy.jpg?v=16316193851x,//cdn.... (2980x1722 px) while it shows as
=> reduce the image size by half
Also, after reduce size you can use some tools to compress the image, I usually use https://tinypng.com/ or you can find an app on Shopify app store for this.
This image https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0597/3920/9914/files/pup_county_size_guide_1024x1024.png?v=1632933... on the product page is big as well. You can try to reduce it.
Gif can be compressed too if you haven't done it.
The 2nd suggestion is applying Lazy load (it helps delay the load of image until it's needed), you may hire an Shopify expert to help you on this, or if you use our app - PageFly, you can enable Lazy loading for your page created with us with a few clicks.
The choice of image type matters too if you want to know more about when to use which image type, you may take a look at our guide one this https://pagefly.link/axXBRyrQ
I hope my recommendations will be beneficial for you, if you find it helpful, please let me know by giving it a Like!
