What can I improve in my online pet boutique for better sales?

Hi everyone- I could really use some feedback on my store. I opened it a month ago, spent maybe 150-200 on fb ads. I don’t have a single sale yet. Thank you

Congratulations on your new store! I'm impressed by the message of your brand; the design of the store looks clean & user-friendly. Still, I have reviewed your store thoroughly and would like to offer some suggestions for better conversion rate optimization. 

 

1. Invest More In Your Hero Banner 

Upon first glance, I found it quite hard for visitors to realize what products you are offering & what is your call to action. I recommend you add a specific heading & sub heading on your hero banner to help them clear about that.

Also, consider using another banner image or video with higher quality to attract visitors when they land on your site. The button should also use another color and add mouse over state to be highlighted.

2. Add a Favicon Logo to Your Store

As I can see, your website currently lacks a favicon logo. A favicon is important because it allows visitors to quickly identify your store among multiple open tabs and makes it easier for them to locate your site in their browser history. This is the small logo that typically appears in a browser tab, and I've highlighted it in the screenshot below.

3. Move The Contact, Shipping Policy, Refund Policy To Your Footer 

I noticed the Contact, Shipping Policy, Refund Policy are now located in the header. You may consider moving them to the footer as normal, meanwhile, the header should be better leverage to show other high convert folders such as product categories, promotions, highlight collections like new arrivals, best-sellers, etc…

4. Optimize Images For Collections 

Key things I could see from your collection lists:

  • The collection image cover is not attractive enough to click on to see more
  • They lack integrity with the styling of your site
  • Lack of information to process on each collection 

My suggestions include:

  • Have a secondary hover image to increase the chance of showing your products and key benefits of your collection to the fullest. 
  • Redesign the collection cover image to make it unity in style.

Also, you could make the collection title more noticeable by making it bold or using effect like flash, etc,..

5. Feature a Representative Sample of Products on the Homepage

As a first visitor to your store, I could find no best-sellers / brand featured products on display. It's important that you should have a section which highlights representative products that you want to guide your customers to make a purchase on. 

Quick view should also be enabled to create a smooth shopping experience for visitors.

Generally, your homepage seems to be text-heavy, it may bring on a bit of a monotonous experience for shoppers. I suggest adding images that feature your brand to this section below to better illustrate your key message and brand mission to the audience.

7. Make Use Of The Holiday Season

As a friendly-reminder, don't miss out on the upcoming Christmas Holiday. It would be peak time of customers’ demand and so I suggest you can prepare to run a promotion. On your store, here is what you can do to highlight the special offers of the campaign and you can use page builder app to create these:

  • Create a Holiday-themed landing page: Create a dedicated landing page in Christmas theme which can highlight exclusive deals and provide a cohesive holiday experience for visitors

Congratulations on launching your store – that's a big step! I've taken a look at thechicpetboutique.com and I must say, your products, like the dog travel water dispenser, are quite appealing and practical.

 

Regarding your Facebook ads investment, it's important to give it some time and also ensure your targeting is on point to reach potential customers who are most likely to be interested in your offerings.

 

As for your website, I noticed a couple of small design elements that could be tweaked to enhance the overall user experience. The welcome pop-up has a background image that makes the text a bit challenging to read. Consider using a solid color or a blurred background to ensure the text stands out more.

  • Welcome popup text overlaying image looks weird
    • There's also a link to a Shopify app listing above the popup, doesn't look very professional
  • When I load the store the main hero image is a dog but half of its head and legs are chopped off, it gets worse the more you zoom. You should find/design a hero image that looks good for all screens (it's also very plain)
  • The store itself is kinda boring, there's no personality or strong branding
  • The About Us page doesn't really say anything about you, just a wall of text. No info on where you are based, etc. Maybe add a photo of yourself with your pet, or add some personality.
  • Product photos:
    • they are inconsistent - it's clear you've got them from multiple different sources. Some studio shots, some with text, some clear photoshop
    • if you're looking for lifestyle shots my app, Snapshot, can help with that. It uses AI to generate product photos, all it needs is a single photo taken with your phone or from your supplier
  • Products dropdown is displayed under the "Contact us" header
  • The technical metrics for your site are pretty good
