Why am I getting visitors but no orders on my online watch store?

Why am I getting visitors but no orders on my online watch store?

Hello lovely Shopify commuters, 👋

My name is Sam from www.warchclockwizard.com

I have recently started up a on-line retail watch store .

I have spent hrs tweaking the page to make it as professional, stylish and modern as I would see new age shoppers are wanting..

(I'm hoping I haven't over tweaked it to now look like a spam/fake page).

I am deciding whether this side business from my ordinary day job of a furniture removalist is a waste of time or if maybe I just haven't done enough research into opening an e-commerce business.

Just need some feedback please if you have time  On  the whole pages  wether it is rubbish or if I just need fine tune areas.

Thank you very much for your time.

Appreciate any input.

Happy shopping 😊

Kindest regards

Sam

Hi @Watchwizard

I’m Garcia, a CRO expert from PageFly - Advanced Page Builder app.

Your store looks fantastic! Yet, it can use some more tweaking and adjustments here and there, so I’ll give you several tips and advice to enhance your storefront even further:

1. General

  • Update your website title and add a favicon: At first glance, your website displayed on a browser’s tab might look like a partially unloaded page even though it’s fully loaded. Consider updating your website title to: “Watch Clockery Warehouse” or “Watch Clock Wizard”, as well as giving your site a favicon which is basically your brand’s logo. This should help increase your brand’s professionalism:

  • Define your store’s style based on your brand’s niche: When I first looked at your store, I couldn’t define the vibe your store is radiating. Is it for watches that have futuristic feels, or watches that exude luxury and high end-ness? Depending on which niche you’re leaning towards more, pick a theme/layout/design that represents it. Here’s an example:

  • Proper punctuation: Good punctuation usage will have your visitors reassured that they are shopping on a site crafted with care. Use only 1 exclamation mark, use periods and commas appropriately, you name it.

2. For the Homepage

Homepage is the starting point of every customer’s journey, therefore, it needs to be as appealing, inviting, informative and convincing as possible, all at once. That being said, there will be lots to go through:

  • Update your announcement bar: Based on the current state of your Homepage, I’m seeing three announcement bars. This is unnecessary since you’ll only need 1 to make room for other elements above the fold (entire page presented upon entering). Consider having only 1 announcement bar, and have it showcase your store’s discounts, newest collections, etc.

  • Update your header: Your header is currently way too large. Consider reducing its height to about 3/5 of how it is now. Also, consider these practices: Having your logo on a transparent background, adding a navigation menu, adding more pages for your navigation menu like Shop, New Collections, Promos, About Us, Contact.

PageFlyGarcia_5-1705894506677.png

  • Update your hero banner: This should take up 70% of what your visitors will see at first sight as they enter your page. Consider removing this white space along with a supposedly random scrolling banner here, and having your banner fill up the space indicated in red. Also, make sure your banner showcases 1 premier image/money shot only, along with a catchy heading and a CTA button - which is a must.

  • Adjust your Featured Products section (Featured Watches): I get it that you want to present as many products of yours as possible, but currently there are just too many. Consider reducing the amount of products shown down to 4, and in a line; but if you still want to show more than 4, you can turn it into a carousel.

Also, consider these minor practices too: Increasing your product title’s size, making your discounted price stand out by making it bold, in different colors.

  • Add more sections: One major problem with your Homepage is that it’s incomplete. Consider adding these sections in this order (after your Featured Products section), so that your visitors get more convinced as they scroll through your page: About your brand/Your brand story, Featured Collections, Sales banner (Countdown timer), Testimonials, Newsletter.
  • Additional adjustments to some of your elements: There are 3 elements I’m referring to here:
  • An option to play music while surfing: This is a nice feature to have, although there should be an option of disabling this popup message.
  • Another scrolling banner: It’s referring to the chatboxes on the bottom right, so it would be better to have this as a popup message that is tied to your chatboxes.
  • Your overlapping chatboxes: There are 2 chatboxes on top of each other now. Please only keep one that is active.

3. For the Product page

  • Make your price stand out: Like I said before in the Featured Products section, you can make your discounted price stand out by making it bold and giving it a different color like red.
  • Use color swatches: Instead of plain text in variant swatches which do very little in terms of describing colors, use color swatches which represent colors more clearly, allowing visitors to know what exactly they’re getting.
  • Adjust your ATC button: The current color choice for your ATC button is blending into your dark background. Consider giving it a different color that is on a brighter side, like white or yellow or golden.
  • Update your product description: Your product description is very lengthy. Consider compressing it into accordions (collapsible content tabs) so that your product pages look cleaner. Also, since you have your product images already, there’s no need to include the images again in your description.

Refer to one of your product page templates to get a better idea:

4. Ready for Valentine’s Day

Holiday seasons are gold mines of traffic. These days, demands for online shopping skyrocket, urging merchants - especially Shopify merchants - to update their store to capture the holiday spirit, thus giving their customers satisfaction and eventually getting more sales.

Valentine’s Day is up next, so consider these practices to implement onto your storefront:

  • Add a collection for couples: Your store’s products are watches; so it would be best to have a collection where you turn some of your current products into best-matching pairs of watches for couples or newlyweds!
  • Implement a discount timer onto your announcement bar: This targets your visitors’ FOMO, having them feel the urge to make on-the-spot purchases.
  • Update your hero banner: You can have your hero banner section in the form of a slideshow that contains multiple hero banners, one of which is Valentine-themed showcasing all of your store’s holiday offers.

See this template of ours for a better clue:

Hey,

  • If you want to have music, make it far quieter. It is too loud
  • Regarding design, there are quite a lot of improvements to be made. The current design doesn't fit a high-end watch store. If you want to get serious with this, hire a Shopify designer
  • Pictures are of low quality. They should be of super high quality - especially for watches!
  • For social proof, since you are a new store and don't have reviews, try using an app like Platoria that provides you with real reviews even if you currently have none

All the best,
Stan
