Why are customers not buying products from my new online store?

I recently opened my shopify store and began to advertise on platforms such as TikTok which has thankfully brought in traffic but I seem to have an issue with sales. I have activated discount codes for free shipping and I have placed certain items on sale. I've even set up a chat for any questions that customers may have and I am very active but I can't seem to get the customers to officially buy a product. I am losing more than I am making but I'm trying to not let it bring me down so I would really appreciate the support of this community. If I could get some more tips for advertising methods or a purchase or even share my page. Anything helps, thank you very much.

Thanks a lot for the reply but my issue seems to be that I can't attract enough customers to build a consistent customer base. With the low number of sales I have gathered a low number of emails in which i am trying to take advantage of. I require a method to promote my business using free ads. I have lost quite a bit of money recently on stores similar to this and cannot afford the paid ads.

I would seriously appreciate that man. Let me know what platform you would want to stay in contact on. Thanks again.

Hi @GoverNaz ,

This is Richard from PageFly -Shopify Landing Page Builder App. I would like to give you some suggestions from my CRO expertise. Hope this can help!

Optimizing your speed: It’s crucial that your page can load quickly to ensure a smooth shopping experience. I suggest using PageSpeed Insights to check yours and improve your page

Homepage:

  • You should have a hero banner to showcase your best products, a CTA button such as “Shop now”, “Buy now” as well as some sentences to capture your brand values. A key rule of thumb is that customers have to know what you’re selling within the first 5 second looking into your store and mentioned elements should be seen without having to scroll down
  • Add the search bar and breadcrumb on top of your page for easy navigation
  • Add links to your shipping & refund policy; links to your social media handles in the footer

Collection page:

  • You should divide your products into multiple collections such as: Editor’s Pick, On sale, Limited Editions,... to help customers dive through your long product list
  • On each collection, you should also add some description to explain why these products are special

Product page:

  • Utilized grid view and list view for better visualization
  • Invest in bespoke photography. It’s best to include 3-5 photos for each product from various angles, lightings and settings. You should also add some photo to show products in scale and zoom-in of certain features
  • Add FOMO elements such as Back in stock, the number of people had purchase this item, reviews and ratings

Here are some of my recommendations for CRO. It’d be best if you could provide your store’s URL so I can have a look and give you more detailed feedback. Running an online store can be tough at first and we learn as we go so I hope you can still keep up with your work.

Moreover, International Women’s Day 2023 (IWD) is just around the corner. With the theme #EmbraceEquality, here are some worthwhile ideas for you to make the most of it:

1. Personalize your discounts and deals

You can offer sales, discounts or special deals to your female customers to make them feel more valued in IWD!

2. Show testimonials from female customers

You can show rating stars for each product or you can add customer reviews as text and photos. Additionally, featuring women's portraits with their testimonials would make it even more engaging.

3. Spotlights female staff

This can be a great way to enhance your brand presence as a brand that supports equality for women. You can even promote your own business if it’s women-owned as it is probably a golden opportunity for you to receive the support and promotion from others.

Let me know if you have any questions. Wish you the best of luck!

Hello @GoverNaz,

Greetings from flareAI app! I am Gina, and I am here to help.

Congratulations on starting your own Shopify store and advertising on TikTok! It's great to hear that you're actively engaging with customers through a chat feature and offering discounts and sales to incentivize purchases.

However, I understand your concern regarding low sales, and I'm happy to provide some tips that could potentially help you increase your conversion rate.

1. Optimize Your Product Pages
Make sure your product pages are visually appealing, contain detailed descriptions and high-quality images that showcase your products from multiple angles. Use customer reviews and ratings to build trust and provide social proof.

2. Improve Your Website's User Experience
Your website should be easy to navigate, load quickly, and have clear calls-to-action (CTAs) that direct visitors to the checkout page. Ensure that your checkout process is streamlined and requires minimal steps.

3. Leverage Social Media
In addition to TikTok, consider utilizing other social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest to showcase your products and reach a wider audience. Use hashtags, collaborate with influencers, and run social media ads to drive traffic to your store.

4. Offer Value
Consider adding additional value to your products by including free gifts, personalized packaging, or loyalty programs. Customers appreciate feeling special and will be more likely to make a purchase and become repeat customers.

5. Analyze Your Data
Use analytics tools to track your website's traffic, identify where customers are dropping off, and understand how they're interacting with your site. Use this information to optimize your site and make data-driven decisions.

Remember that building a successful online store takes time, effort, and patience. Keep experimenting with different advertising methods, engage with your customers, and continue to refine your product offerings and website experience. I wish you the best of luck with your store!

Don't hesitate to ask if you need any further clarification.
