Why can't we fully edit or duplicate orders on our online store?

There seems to have been recent updates to the ability to edit orders.

 

There should be no reason that we as store owners should not be able to update an order.

 

If we want to update an order, take a product off, put a product on, take additional payment, process a full or partial refund, etc, etc, we should be able to.

 

The restrictions someone there in the development team thinks are necesscary, should try running their own retail store and you will find that having the ability to amend or vary a product is always needed.  Flexibility is needed.

 

I have found I can now not duplicate some previous orders for some reason.  Perhaps it's because it was a pre order product, but now thats preventing a duplicate order being made.

 

Sort it out shopify!

 

Dont dictate what cant be done. make the platform more flexible to suit more peoples needs.

 

If we want to edit / duplicate an order - LET US!

That's interesting we had no problem editing orders, what error do you see when you try to do that? can you share a screenshot?

Its happening on lots of orders now.

Sometimes an error about a fixed price plan. Its not an ebay order. I get i
cant change them as they have come via a 3rd party, but orders placed by me
on the back end, or orders placed by a customer on the website (no matter
how it was paid for) should be editable. With products being able to be
added, swapped etc.

Other times it will let me remove a product but not add a different product
in, but i can add a custom product.

And its not just me. I have full admin rights. But even when i try and do
it on store owners pc it still does not let us amend orders.

Its great that you dont get an error, but we do and we are the ones trying
to use the back end to administer orders.

Hi Davin,

 

Can you share as screenshot showing when this happens on order's that we're coming through the online store, cover all the details, just show the error your having.

Hi see screen shot.

I had the customer create this order via the website last week, have tried
to add another product to the order today and it will not let me.

It will let me click the edit order, I can search for a product and tick
the product and click done and then it brings me to the screen as per the
screen grab attached.

Payment was processed by paypal on the original order.

I used to be able to edit the order and then take extra payment by emailing
a link to the payment page or taking CC details over the phone.

It's very frustrating that we can not edit our customers orders

Have you tried to contact Shopify? what are they saying?
