Why is my new website getting traffic but no sales?

Hello, I recently created one of my first websites on shopify. I am getting an okay amount of traffic but have had very little add to carts and zero sales. Is it my website or my product?

Thank you in advance!

Your website is very impressive! I have no idea how you have not made a sale. My store isn’t as impressive but I kinda have the same problem.

I like the overall appearance of your website. The first thing that I noticed when opening the website was that the header is very large. I recommend making it slimmer. Also, I would add an about us page to convey to the audience more about your brand.

Hi @CHEETO711 ,

I have listed few suggestions based on my first impression of your site.

1. The color white on blue background is not contracting. It doesnot meet the color contrast ratio making it very difficult to notice. Rather use a black color for font.

Color contrast on this blue section looks good.

2. This banner is hiding the checkout button. This can hinder the checkout process, as user cannot see the checkout button.

3. The main hero banner is blurry. Try adding high quality images.

4. If you have already started selling, you should make the updates based on your own data. One quick tip is, If >70% of your customer only buys single product at a time, you should redirect users to checkout page as soon as they add product to the cart.

If you require someone to make this changes on the site, please do remember me.

Regards,

Makka

Hi @CHEETO711, love the look of the store!

The main thing that jumps out to me is that there are a lot of bright colours, including the white text which is slightly hard to read on the bright background. Potentially switching to a darker background could make it easier for customers.

If you want to collect information directly from your customers about how to improve you can use the app "Exit Poll" to style and add an exit survey to your store in under a minute!

Best,

Hi Cheeto711, I like the look of your site at first glance! Couple of suggestions:

1. The header image seems a little blur, might be good to replace with sharper images?
2. Would be good to have a blog about water / importance of drinking water / sustainability (as SEO strategy) to attract more customer traffic.
3. Have you asked a friend to test out buying a product off the site? Did it work well or was there anything that would hinder the process?

Once you start getting some customers and sales, I would suggest getting Gojiberry Survey & Feedback app (it's free!) so you can ask your customers directly what you can improve (there's a 5s test feature that lets to ask design related questions), or where they came from (marketing attribution).

I hope this helps!

Hi @CHEETO711

This is Kate from PageFly, - Shopify Landing Page Builder App.

Overall, it's a great website and I'm sure it's been a lot of work. Great job!

From my experience, I have some feedback to improve your store.

1. Adjust the suitable spacings

Reduce the height of the header, as the current header and announcement bar are sticky and taking up a significant amount of space on the page.

2. Improve your hero banner background

The background image is blurry, so using a higher-quality image will convey a more professional look.

3. Highlight product price

Increase its visibility by using a large font size (similar in size to the product headline), bold text style, or eye-catching color.

4. Add testimonial - customer reviews

Customer reviews are proof of your product quality. This section will help you build customers' trust. You can show rating stars for each product or you can add customer reviews as text and photos.

Reviews are crucial when it comes to shopping online.

You can check this image for reference:

5. Get ready for holiday season

As the holiday season approaches, and with many businesses already gearing up for festivities like Black Friday Cyber Monday (BFCM) and Halloween, your products align seamlessly with this festive period. I strongly encourage you to implement these suggestions to maximize your success during these celebrations:

  • Festive website design: Update your website with a festive theme that reflects the holiday spirit. Add seasonal graphics, banners, and colors to create an inviting and celebratory atmosphere for visitors.
  • Holiday specials and offers: Ofer exclusive holiday promotions, discounts, or special deals to entice customers. Highlight these offers prominently on your website to catch the attention of potential buyers.

That’s all of my feedback. Hope it helps to increase your conversion rate.

Cheers,

Kate | PageFly Team

Hi

First impressions count! You need to convey to visitors within a couple of seconds what you sell and who for, so maybe use a better hero image showing the product more clearly, and a strapline saying exactly what it is eg "Reusable water bottles that track your water intake".

Also, the colour scheme is hard to read. Low colour contarast is a conversion killer, stick to light BG, dark text, and make sure call to action buttons are in a contrasting colour.

Hope that helps,

Regards, Gary
