Re: The old story of the low conversion rate

Solved

Why is my website's conversion rate so low?

Please Review my website, I want to make sure that it isn't the problem (because I have a low conversion rate). I have lots of traffic, however not many sales comparatively. Any help is appreciated. I have made a negative because my ad spend is so high compared to my sales. I have lowered the number of ads I have put on the market currently to try other methods. bedply.com.

Hi @primerelief

This is Richard from PageFly - Landing Page Builder App. I would love to share my initial thoughts when browsing your store.

Have an announcement bar

Basically, the announcement bar will announce information about shipping and discount or any promotion campaign of a store.

PageFlyRichard_0-1681964050769.png

Homepage

1. Make the menu sticky

  • A sticky menu header helps your customers to reach out and access the menu anytime they want.
  • A sticky navigation bar will help customers navigate from every part of the homepage to any page of your store more conveniently.

PageFlyRichard_1-1681964050766.png

2. Showcase your best products

You should feature a product list on your homepage, where you can show your best-selling products or new arrivals, etc, something that will pique your customers’ interest. This can help you increase your conversion rate. It should look something like this:

PageFlyRichard_2-1681964048270.png

3. Feature your top collections

You should also feature some highlight collections and redirect to the collection pages. This helps customers know that you have more products to offer and they still have a lot more options to explore. It looks a little something like this:

PageFlyRichard_3-1681964049269.png

4. Add trust badges, tell your brand story

Your products are not everything, your brand credibility is important too. Using trust badges can help you with that. A trust badge section should tell the customers what you have to offer, maybe Free shipping, a Money-back guarantee, Certified products, and so on. There are many apps for trust badges you might want to check them out on Shopify App Stores. Basically, a trust badge section should look something like this

PageFlyRichard_4-1681964049917.png

5. Create a unique sign-up form

Having a sign-up form on your site, your customers can subscribe to your newsletter to receive product information, any sales campaign, etc from your store. Make use of your sign-up form and be creative with it, like adding a background image. You can take a look at the image below for an example.

PageFlyRichard_5-1681964049783.png

Product page

1. Create a FOMO effect

A recent test by the Blue Stout team shows that using visitor data helps increase the conversion rate by 42%. Creating the FOMO effect by adding a line of real-time visitor data next to the add-to-cart button can add major sales to your store. This sense of urgency makes your customer perceive its popularity, leading to a confident purchase.

PageFlyRichard_6-1681964049586.png

2. Subdivide long product descriptions with Sections and Headings

  • Long, unbroken blocks of text or many bullet list items will cause difficulty for users to extract and scan product information. Long product descriptions which were broken up by headings will greatly help users pinpoint relevant information more quickly and also ignore information that was irrelevant to their purchasing decision.
  • Adding subsection headings helps users easily navigate long lists of bullet points as well as blocks of text. Besides, it also enables users to find relevant information slightly quicker compared to a bullet list without headings of similar length.

PageFlyRichard_7-1681964048132.png

It should look something like this

PageFlyRichard_8-1681964049441.png

3. Provide a list of “Recently viewed” on Product pages

You should make the most use of product pages by recommending other products that your customers might be interested in to increase your conversion rate. Also, you should provide a history-based recently viewed items list for all users (including those who aren’t signed in), and consider allowing users to edit it.

Additionally, with Mother's Day 2023 fast approaching, and also ranked as the third most significant holiday following Black Friday and Christmas, it is an opportune time to consider some compelling concepts for your business to take full advantage of this occasion.

1. Use a color palette associated with Mother’s Day

This kind of change makes your store more welcoming. You can refer to these pairs of colors:

  • Pastel Pink and Green: This color palette is soft, delicate, and feminine, making it a popular choice for Mother's Day. It includes shades of light pink, blush, and pale green, which evoke feelings of tenderness, love, and springtime.
  • Red and White: This classic color combination is timeless and elegant, and it's often used to symbolize the love and appreciation we have for our mothers. It's a bold and impactful color palette that can be used to create a variety of different designs.
  • Lilac and Light Blue: This color palette is soft and soothing, with shades of pale purple and blue that are reminiscent of springtime flowers and clear skies. It's a calming and peaceful color palette that's perfect for creating a relaxing and tranquil atmosphere on Mother's Day.

PageFlyRichard_10-1681964050308.png

2. Offer special discounts

Creating special deals during Mother’s Day events like bundles or 1+1 offers is one of the best ways to boost your sales. You can highlight them on your homepage to be visible as soon as visitors reach your page and make it easy to navigate through your product offerings.

3. Create gift guides or a special section with product recommendations.

Creating gift guides or a product recommendation section can help increase engagement and sales on your Mother's Day landing page. By organizing products by categories and themes, you can make it easier for shoppers to find the perfect gift for their mothers. Including product descriptions, images, and customer reviews can also help improve the shopping experience and boost conversion rates.

I hope it helps and happy selling!

One question, If I add these collapsible rows to the product page, Shopify adds them to all the product pages. Is there a way to change this? When I try to make a new page, I can't seem to just edit a product page.

Hi@primerelief!

I had a look at your e-commerce site. I few comments from my side that could help to increase your conversion rate.

1. Make sure to showcase a diverse selection of product types on your homepage, with a target of having at least 40% of the available product types displayed. When designing mobile homepages, you may choose to use text links as an alternative to or alongside images and thumbnails.

Good example for inspiration:

Conversiontiger_0-1681977433013.png

2. You may want to think about prioritizing product categories as the primary level in your main navigation.

Good example for inspiration

Conversiontiger_1-1681977567492.png

3. Make "Add to cart" button more prominent, so that it differs from other elements on the product page. Currently it is a white button and could easily be missed. Also consider moving free shipping and returns info above the fold. That takes away the risk from the potential customer.

Good example for inspiration

Conversiontiger_2-1681977867040.png

4. Provide customers with the option to browse products thematically or through guided paths, both on your homepage and within your category navigation.

Good example for inspiration

Conversiontiger_3-1681978153096.png

5. You have quite a poor performance index for the mobile device. Most of the traffic usually comes from mobile devices and poor performance is directly associated with user experience, which affect the conversion rate.

PageSpeed report

Conversiontiger_4-1681978298184.png

1. Reduce unused JavaScripts

2. Serve images in next-gen formats - image formats like WebP and AVIF often provide better compression than PNG or JPEG, which means faster downloads and less data consumption.

3. Reduce the impact of third-party code.

4. Largest Contentful Paint image was lazily loaded - above-the-fold images that are lazily loaded render later in the page lifecycle, which can delay the largest contentful paint
