Calling external API on order confirmation during checkout

Hi,

I would like to know if we can invoke external API from checkout page.

I 'm trying to send few details of order to my fulfilment service on successful order placement on store.

Webhooks don't meet my requirement. Hence I 'm trying to do it in custom manner.
