For discussing the development and integration of subscription-enabled shops using Shopify's Subscription APIs.
Hi Shopify Team!
This is more a general question about Shopify's initiative to have all orders flow through their checkout.
The new subscription APIs have been out for almost two years, and the app store is thriving with membership and subscription apps that use these new APIs, yet there are still a few apps which bypass the checkout by using a Stripe or PayPal embedded form to accept payment, then create orders via the API.
Are there any plans to prevent the installation of these apps in the future, and to reward app developers who have moved to the new subscription APIs?
Thanks for reading.
Chris

Hi @simplee_chris, sorry for the late reply! We currently do block publishing of new hijack apps and have established operations/governance to assess and action instances both reactively and proactively. Hope that answers your question.
Cheers,
Noah

HI @simplee_chris!
Checkout hijacks are a violation of our TOS, do you have any examples of apps that still do this bypass? We also have no plans for rewards - rather, using the new subscriptions APIs will be a requirement.
Thanks!

Thanks @NPeneycad
The ones I'm most familiar with are the legacy membership apps, which load a Stripe or PayPal form and handle all billing outside of Shopify:
