[BUGS] Resurfacing Unsolved Bugs / Questions

There are a few important bugs/issues that still haven't been addressed on open threads in the Subscriptions API discussion that I'd like to bring back to the top. 

 

1. Any update to a line with an Automatic Discount Codes on it makes it impossible to create billing attempts on the subscription again.

2. Local pickup options not being presented on some shops when subscription items are in the cart

I've actually got a very long running email thread with Shopify Support on this one (with a Katt R from support)

 

3. When the origin order of a subscription contract is flagged with High Fraud risk, all future billing attempts will fail with an "under review" error but Shopify hasn't provided any guidance on how to get out of this state or what the expectation of Subscription Apps is.

This is a particularly bad issue for instances where a customer is prepaying for a number of orders and apps are blocked from creating future orders via billing attempts.

Hello @Brian_S,

 

Apologies that you have to repeat yourself and reach out again. Our backlog is full right now, but I want to ensure you we are actively investigating the automatic discount codes that break when making updates.

 

For the local pickup options, as you mentioned it isn't clear across the board as a consistent problem. For every shop that runs into the issue, please have them reach out to us directly to help discern why it's not showing. It's a symptom that can show for multiple underlying reasons that requires deciphering. 

 

For the fraud issue, I took a look and agree with you that it's not clear in our help documentation on how to resolve the error. I have asked some team members of mine to update it. To quickly assist you, it's all dependent on the merchant. If they fulfill the order, then you will be allowed to continue to make billing attempts. We offer a fraud analysis along with a recommended action on the orders page that we strongly encourage the merchant to take a look at first.

Oh wow! Yes - if the origin order is marked as fulfilled the subscription can create future orders. That's great! Thanks
