Is it possible to migrate subscription with only Braintree as a payment processor?  (without Shopify Payments)

Hi @Silk21,

It is not. In order to migrate those existing subscriptions under Braintree, you must enable Shopify Payments as the Primary payment gateway and Braintree as the Secondary one.

More info: https://shopify.dev/apps/subscriptions/migrate/customers#migrating-from-braintree

And if you decide to do so, note that existing Braintree subscriptions will be charged through Braintree while new and updated subscriptions will be processed via Shopify Payments.

Kind regards,

Thiago

Yes, it is possible to migrate a subscription with only Braintree as the payment processor, without using Shopify Payments. Shopify provides a range of payment gateways that you can use to process payments for your store, including Braintree.

To migrate a subscription with Braintree as the payment processor, you will need to follow these steps:

  1. Sign up for a Braintree account and connect it to your Shopify store. You can do this by going to the "Payments" section of your Shopify admin and selecting "Braintree" as your payment gateway.

  2. Set up your subscription products and plan in your Shopify store. You can do this by going to the "Products" section of your Shopify admin and creating a new product, or by editing an existing product and selecting the "Subscription" option.

  3. Test your subscription products and plan to make sure they are working as expected.

  4. Once you have tested your subscription products and plan and are satisfied with the results, you can migrate your store to the new subscription model.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

@SocialAutoPost Hi! thanks for replaying.
Im trying to migrate subscriptions from one app to another and I need to create remote payment methods (currently the payments are not managed by Shopify), when I do that it failed (I get bogus).
I followed these instructions

Hi @SocialAutoPost,

Thanks a lot for your input!

Note that you described well how to setup subscriptions on a Shopify store, and enabling Braintree as the Primary payment gateway. But you haven't mentioned about migrating their existing subscriptions (presumably created outside of Shopify).

Hope my answer helped clarify 🙂

Kind regards,

Thiago

@ThiagoColares Thank you so much!

one more question - if I set Shopify Payments only for migrating the subscriptions, and then I switch it back to Braintree as the primary - would it work?
