For discussing the development and integration of subscription-enabled shops using Shopify's Subscription APIs.
We have been trying to create subscription shipping profiles for a subscriptions app we're working on.
It seems that the rate is being created in Shopify without difficulty, this is a screenshot of the rate our app created:
When this rate appears in checkout, it calls the rate "Shipping" instead of using the actual rate name.
Can somebody please explain if this is done on purpose, or can our app show a custom rate name for subscription shipping?

Hey, this is a great question!
For now, the subscription shipping rate will always display as "Shipping", because we currently limit subscription shipping to one rate.
This is something that we may revisit in the future.

It would be very good if apps had control over the rate name that is displayed here, even if it is limited to one rate. Customers currently have no idea whether their subscription product will arrive in days or weeks, because even if merchants create country-specific rate names, the customer cannot tell the difference.
Are there future plans to allow more than one rate? This could make it possible to offer delivery rates for situations like local delivery and local pickup.

It has now been over a year since the question was asked, I would like to know if it is now (the future!!) possible to display a shipping choice at checkout with the Shopify subscription api?
I created a "deliveryProfiles" that I associated with a "sellingPlanGroup" following this recommendations (https://shopify.dev/apps/subscriptions/shipping-delivery), but it doesn't appear at Shopify checkout.
Do you have a solution?
