For discussing the development and integration of subscription-enabled shops using Shopify's Subscription APIs.
The subscription API product roadmap notes Stripe was launched January 2022. A few questions come to mind:
1. Is Stripe only available to connect to so merchants can migrate subscriptions to Shopify Payments?
2. Is it possible to migrate merchants who sell subscriptions processed by Stripe (off Shopify) to be powered by Stripe (on Shopify)? If so, how?
3. Is it possible for merchants to enable Stripe to process new subscription sales?

Hi PaulVomberg,
No, yes and yes, in that order 😜
It's possible for merchants to enable Stripe as their primary gateway (in place of Shopify Payments) to sell new subscriptions in their Shopify Store. This is done in the merchant's Admin under Settings > Payments.
Following this guide, it's also possible for them to migrate existing contracts from a different commerce platform into their Shopify store, while continuing to charge them using the same payment method that was setup in Stripe when the contract was created.
Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Jerome

Hi there,
Hi there,
I have been ping-ponged back and forth between Shopify and Appstle (the subscription app I use) to solve ta critical issue for me. I moved from Shopify Payments to Stripe and since that day I have a 10% approval rate for successful recurring orders. When I was using Shopify Payments, I had a 98% approval rate for successful recurring orders.
Is it possible to migrate subscriptions FROM Shopify to Stripe so I can continue charging the customer on the Stripe Gateway although the customers first order was processed on the Shopify Gateway?
If this is possible, can you please tell me how to do this?
I have been in this battle with them for 1 month now and this has caused me over $50,000 of subscribtions that I have not been able to collect.
I would really appreciate any insight you may have.
Thank you,
Tami
Hi there, were you able to solve this? We're also considering switching from Appstle to Stripe as our subscription management system.
Have you figured this out yet? Any updates?
Hi - With Subscribfy we are able to charge 90+% of the recurring transactions.
It would be interesting to get on a call to understand better your issue and if we could help you solve it.
Thank you
Sam
