What does this mean?

I had an extension that worked fine. All I did to change it was add in the text Hello World to the existing text. When the spinner started up, instead of showing me the same text but with Hello World text in it, I got this:
So what does that mean? How can you go from a working extension to this, without doing anything but changing some text?

Just to be super clear. The extension is running fine, but Shopify is puking and there is no reason why. How do developers deal with this? Do you cry? Weep tears of Javascript sadness?
