Access another store's orders through order api as collaborator

Hi, 

I am currently working with a client on a separate app that is not located on shopify. They have granted me access to their orders as a collaborator. How do I get an access key to use the orders api on their shop?

Since the work being done for them won't be on shopify, I don't think creating a shopify app is the correct way to go about it. Any help would be appreciated!

That link you shared would give you the access you need. As part of the setup your app would request certain scopes - orders being what you're chasing. There's benefits to this approach. If for some reason you can't build an oauth app look into the private app keys created from within the Admin:
