Add custom fields to Admin of Default Product Template

Hi, we want to add a couple of custom fields to our Default Product Template for our coffee business. Because we tend to have lengthy product descriptions in the Description field, we want to move the Description field below Pricing and Variant pickers. We envision adding two custom fields - one for Roast Level, the other for Tasting Notes, which would appear below the product name and above Pricing and the Variant pickers. However, three Shopify Advisors could not tell us how to make this work.
