Hi folks,
We have a few products on a site we're building that need to have a one-time set-up for (for creating a design / plate).
This fee is independent of the quantity - for example should add £50 to the item total, regardless of 1 or 100 of this item being ordered.
Additionally, the customer should be able to remove this fee (e.g. for instances when we have already done the set up and are simply ordering more of the same design).
We are currently using Live Product Options with Quantity extension, which also has a Formula extension - but we're still searching for the ideal way to deal with this situation.
Does anyone have any advice that will work on product page - and in the cart etc.?
Thanks, Michael

This is an accepted solution.
Howdy! The only idea I can think of would be introducing a custom add to cart button that replaces the existing add to cart if the product requires a set up a fee.
You would use liquid in the product form to filter products by a tag or product type - whatever works best in this case. This new fancy add to cart button will add the product and also a second "set up" fee product, this enables it to be removed from the cart if your clients don't need it but that could be more hassle than a feature from a usability standpoint.
Another more technical solution, would be using Shopify Mechanic to automatically send a set-up fee draft order if the customer is new & ordered one of the set-up required products.
If you're comfortable using liquid then either solution shouldn't take too long to implement. I think the draft order option is going to be easier for a customer to understand but hey! I'm a programer. Not a people person.

Thank you Sxrahem,
I think the initial idea of a set-up product is what we are going with - just working out how best to implement in conjunction with other custom functionalities on our product page.
I've not yet used Shopify Mechanic so will also have a good look into that.
Cheers
Hi @no_robotocha,
You might want to check out the Easify Product Options app. It lets you create custom options with additional fees and apply a one-time charge for them. This means your customers will only be charged once, regardless of the quantity of the main product they purchase 🤗.
