All of the documentation I have been able to find so far for adding custom line item description fields for personalization in themes refers to direct modification/addition of HTML to a theme template/section.
The "Taste" theme doesn't seem to be constructed the same way, the fields seem to be generated dynamically with code vs. being in straight plain HTML within the section(s). Is there any updated documentation for adding line item fields to this "type" of theme construct? I'm sorry I don't know enough about Shopify theming to use the right terminology for this.

Ok, I figured this out. In this particular theme, the form code that you need to modify to add custom properties to line items is buried in a "Snippet" called "buy-buttons.liquid". So you need to duplicate that snippet, name it something a little different, paste your new fields into there within the form tags and you'll be good to go.
