Adding product weight to order notes

I am trying to get each line item's weight from the order into the order notes. Is this possible?

As the actual note customers would normally use?

Is their a reason you cannot use cart attribute(s) instead.

We want to be able to view the weight per line item, and total weight after an order has been submitted.

Is this possible with cart attribute(s)?
