Buy Button cart will empty when customer logs in

Hi

I'm trying to add some Buy Button products to a special event landing page. They appear to embed properly, with a cart visible on the side, and the checkout process initiates properly, but when we chose to log in (rather than checkout as a guest), the cart will be empty when we return from the sign in process. (We are using Social Sign-in. Not sure if this is the culprit?)

How can we be sure that the customers have the ability to log-in without losing that item from their cart? 

 

I am NOT technical, so hopefully it is something that can be solved in settings somewhere...?

 

Hoping to go live with this page next week.
