Buy it now button - changes to "remove from cart"

"add to cart" suddenly turned into "remove from cart". I have never seen this before. I have a customisable product and customer wants to add 2 of the same product but with different customisable options but once she has added the first one she cannot add the 2nd one as the button that normally says "add to cart" now says "remove from cart". I have never seen this before. I am not sure how to fix it? Help pls.
