Can a selling plan group be applied at checkout?

I'm using deferred payments, specifically a selling plan group. I know you're meant to get customers to choose the selling plan group from the product page. However, I'm wondering if it's possible to have a dynamic solution, where we apply the selling plan at the checkout?
