Can I create a multi-stage purchasing process in my online store?

Hi, 

i want to build a multi stage purchasing process in my Shopify store. is this possible? 
in my scenario I want the customer to choose a product (category 1) and when he chose it he needs to choose a product 2 (category 2) optional as well. In my order list I want to see that the two products belong together (even if he does the process multiple times). Is this possible?
