Can Next-js future-proof your Shopify platform?

Hi

Our preference is to go with Shopify to start with and later change the front end / customize using Next-js and other headless ecommerce technology
and get the performance faster What is the future on this cross platform of nextjs + shopify 
Incase cross platform creates many issues on plugins which are highly compatible to shopify shall affect - is the reason of worry for us.

I also want to add same feature in my shopify store. Can you guide me regarding this ? I do not to use any app or plugin due to site load speed.
