change the primary domain

Hi, so i have an online store already and would like to change my primary domain.. what step i need to do? 

the current primary domain i purchased through shopify.. and would like to get a new one through shopify as well. so do i need to purchase through shopify first and then whats the next step?

questions.. if after this sucessfully changed.. if people go to the old website, does it will take them to the new domain??

I understand you have a Shopify-managed domain set as your primary domain. However, you'd like to purchase a new custom domain through Shopify, and set it as the primary domain?

If so, you'll first want to purchase the new domain through Shopify. You can do this by going to Settings > Domains in your Shopify admin and clicking on Buy new domain. Enter the desired domain name and complete your purchase. Afterwards, ensure that the new domain has a Connected status on the Domains page in your Shopify admin. It might take up to 48 hours for your domain to be connected. Once the new domain is connected, go to Settings > Domains. Click on the new domain you want to set as primary, then click Change domain type and select Primary domain. Finally, click Change domain type to save your changes. You can find more information and the full steps in our Help Center resource. 

By setting the new custom domain as your primary domain, the new primary domain is displayed to customers who visit your online store.
